Alphonse had gone on this journey for one reason and one reason only:

To make them proud.

To be more specific, Alph's mind raced to his mothers and their worried look on their faces as they looked

at the damage to Union City. They were scared, terrified for their son, but refused to admit it. He could tell despite that. Alphonse wasn't a child anymore when the incident in Union City appeared, he was an adult who knew the dangers in the world-- perhaps that is why Alphonse wanted to try and protect his parents for once. They always seemed to look at him with eyes that made him feel like a child who always needed to be protected; so of course he wanted to prove his mothers wrong.

Becoming a trainer was going to be hard, and Alphonse knew this. Pokemon were dangerous creatures that should be feared, especially with the infection and rage that could build within them and cause them to snap, who wouldn't be afraid of that? Alphonse mind was yelling at him to not get near any Pokemon he meets, but the adult knew he had to surpass this fear; although Apricot here wasn't making that easy for him.

"Hey! Master! My feet hurt let me ride on your shoulder..." the bug Pokemon whined loudly. Who knew Venipede's could be so... clingy? Alphonse hesitantly smiled down at his new partner, "We're almost there, can you keep walking for a bit longer?" he hummed kindly in question.

Another pout as the bug squinted and huffed.

Oh boy...
