Fly me away, whomever you are
to city, to state, to country so far
My heart is so weary, my spirit is faint
My eyes are so listless, So sinner or saint
be who you are, my rescuer still
from the place that exists only to kill
the life from my spirit, the light from my eyes
the place where I am I can only despise.
Call me desperate, and call me mad
Call me foolish, gone to the bad
But all those things I rather would be
than have mirror-eyes bleeding, and see
my days like grains of sand
slip between fingers back down to the land
And lose them forever, and wander alone
until nothing is left but my lifeless bones.
