Description Unlike the previous two aircraft, which were captured by the North Vietnam and sent to Poland for testing, this particular plane - Republic F-105D Thunderchief (no. 59-1822) belonged to now retired gen. Donald Kutyna, a Polish-born American aviator and military commander. To honour his home country, Kutyna named his plane "The Polish Glider" and put Poland's coat-of-arms on it (complete with the royal crown, removed by the then-Communist authorities of Poland). Flying in 355th Tactical Fighter Wing, it completed 120 combat missions before Kutyna came back to the United States. The aircraft was donated to Poland by USAF Museum, and exhibited in Krakow Aviation Museum.
