Episode 2: Welcome to the Jungle

            Suddenly we all heard it on our comms.

"This is Cavalier 11 to Baseplate. We have just lost the eagle. I say again, eagle down."

"Damn it!" I heard Rex exclaim.

"Everyone in the house, let's go. We don't want to be in the open when whoever shot that Stinger comes to see why there was an MV-24." I said, taking charge.

"Captain?" Callahan asked, looking to Terrance for guidance.

"The kid's right, go in the house. Raven and I will try and slow them down a bit."

As we headed for the house, I heard an engine coming down the road.

"Rex, get the King of Spades back inside, and tie him down somewhere. Cpt. Power, do you have a visual on whatever is coming down the road?"

"Negative. We can't see a thing through the trees." replied Terrance.

"Alright, let me know when" I started, but was cut off.

"Well boys, things are about to get pretty exciting. We have an enemy patrol coming from your left. 2 Hummers, 10-15 infantry. Looks like the Arbalests may not be necessary. Oh, something else now..... Scratch that. A walker just came up from behind the patrol."

"Great, just great." James said.

"Oh, shut up Jimmy." said Rex.

"Orders Captain?" Callahan questioned.

"Well, the walker is going to be the biggest threat, so Raven and I will hit it with the Arbalest, and give you covering fire. Just try not to completely destroy the Hummers, because we may need them to replace that Osprey."

"Rex, see what you can do about giving some more cover. Do you think you can get on the roof?" I asked.

"Ya, there's a set of stairs in the next room."

"Alright, go up there. Tyler, go with him. James and Lance, go out back and try and outflank them."

"I'll go with them." Callahan said. The three headed out the back door into the bush.

"Alright, the rest of us will draw fire in the front. Power?"

"They're just around the corner. It's now or never." He replied.

"Okay. Good luck everyone. See you on the other side." I said, going into the garage.

"GO!" yelled Terrance over the radio.

            Suddenly all my training kicked in. I ran to the other side of the road, and found cover behind a boulder. One of the JTF2's was right behind me. Yelling. A gunshot. I looked over the rock, and fired at the closest enemies. The JTF2 did the same, and we took out the front group of five. Now we had their attention. I couldn't see the bullets shoot past, but I saw when they thudded into the cliff behind me.

            I looked back at the house, and watched as Rex and Tyler dropped a few more tangos, from their rooftop haven. There were only five or so left, plus the walker. I could see that one Hummer had fallen to an Arbalest shot, and the other had come to a stop by the garage, the driver dead on the wheel.

            We ran back to the garage, firing as we went. The five enemy soldiers fell, but were not dead until Raven shot them from atop the hill. Now if only we could get rid of the walker....

"What's the situation with the walker?" I asked openly over the radio. Terrance quickly responded.

"That bugger just won't drop. Callahan, fire your Arbalest at it."

"Firing now." Callahan stated, with a bit of anxiety in his voice.

            I peered out, and watched as the walker was hit, and finally fell.

"Walker down. Callahan, Riggins and Potvin, go check for the crew. Everyone else regroup at the house." Power finally said.

            Sighing in relief, I walked back towards the house. As I was walking, I pulled out my gold G2050 sidearm, and said "Great job boys. It's time to talk to the King of Spades.
