Description That moment of happiness when you achieve one of your photo goals - who would not love common kingfishers?
In the Czech Republic, those marvelous birds are called "flying jewels" - for their beauty and amazing colors.
In the last years, there were quite many of them, in fact I managed to see some of them in the middle of the city or during my short walks. But the 2016/2017 winter was very cruel and majority of kingfishers which stayed in the country (some of them stay, other kingfishers spend winter in the warmer climate) died
This one was taken in Alpenzoo Innsbruck, but I really hope to shoot also the wild birds in the future

Not the best quality, but it is very difficult to photograph them even in captivity - they are incredibly shy

I love kingfishers!! I'm not from the UK, so it's always a treat to see a picture of one, especially of such amazing quality. It's such a shame that the winters are so terrible for them. I hope you catch more!

Featured: Better Begins HereSometimes the key opening the way forward is a truth we needed to remember. For me, it's what the poster at this feature's end says: "If a thing is worth doing, it's worth doing badly until you get better." Many of us are perfectionists--it comes with the territory. But few goals are reached without missteps and we must be humble, brave and self-disciplined enough to accept that there's a process to improving anything, and take that first, next, and 2,000 more steps with belief in our potential to reach our potential, whether that is in our work, our spiritual walk, or volunteering in a worthy cause. Today's featured artists provide inspiration through their talent and skill in various fields, and I hope you'll consider watching them after visiting their galleries. Have a blessed week, my dear friends, and wishing you the best always in your artistic endeavors! Love -Debra

Ahoj, je fajn potkat někoho od nás, ještě k tomu tak talentovaného.
(A ano, píšu česky jen abych popíchla ostatní

I once made a kingfisher as a kid in a (child) art form called ministeck (no english word for it) static.bartsmit.com/BLKCAS/960…

yesterday i finally saw one in the wild, it was very fast, almost looked like a blue streak flying by.

ale prý s tím příroda počítá - a ledňáčci se údajně strašně rychle množí...
Jinak víš, proč se jim vůbec říká ledňáčci?

KhaliaArt In reply to woxys [2018-02-10 20:52:57 +0000 UTC]

Noo, vlastně ani nevím, povídej

woxys In reply to KhaliaArt [2018-02-10 21:07:49 +0000 UTC]
