Asiatic lion called Pentagon (Panthera leo persica, lev persky) from ZOO Prague, Czech republic

Story of the photo: I was so shocked when I saw Pentagon moving! XD he is always sleeping when I visit him, so I felt really lucky
he was walking in the snow, being also curious about visitors. I could not believe my eyes!Thank you for your comments and faves

INFO ABOUT THE ANIMAL:
Name: Asiatic lion (Panthera leo persica)
Location: Gir Forest National Park in western India
Size: 3 m long body (females are smaller) weight: 190 Kg (females are lighter)
Diet: deers, antelopes, wild boars, buffalos...
Conservation status: Critically Endangered
Interesting facts: Lions are the only big cats who gather in groups. Packs of Asiatic lions have less members than packs of African lions | there are only some 360 Asiatic lions. Fortunately, their numbers are slowly rising thanks to protection | lioness gives birth to 6 cubs. Babies are spotted | ZOOs are encouraged to keep rather Asiatic lions than African lions. It is due conservations efforts | Asiatic lions are still killed by people, who want to protect their cattle

Beautiful! I love both Asian, and African lions, bus since Asian lions are rare, you don't see them as much so there's something very special about them. Are Asian lions smaller than African? I think so. just a random question.

I went to the zoo during spring break. and there are two lions there. there both about two years old. I went to take a picture and I scared the lion! he roared at me nd growled... but when my 5 year old sister walked up to the glass he put his massive paw to the glass where hers was. it was so so cute!!!

Asiatic Lion?!?!! That's about as rare as an Amur Leaopard!!! Europe has all the good stuff.

no, there are more than 350 wild Asiatic lions, while there are only 30 wild Amur leopards

...That's stil a low population. It's a gorgeous mane on Pentagon though. I've always thought of Lions as the most nadsome of the Big Cat family. Tigers are bigger, stronger, prettier colors, but lions have this regalness about them. Even the maneless females seem like queens to me, even none of the females in a pride where's the metaphorical crown of the queen. Lions rule!!!

Leaopards are number two on my list of epic big cats. Lions, leopards (all), cheetahs, jaguars, panthers, and tigers. In that order.
