I had been running a female half-elf ranger in a Sunday campaign at an acquaintance's home some years ago. Would take the lead in our travels overland. But we had one player who was always trying to run things when he didn't have enough sense to pour piss out of a boot.
Anyway, we were in a fight against zombies when he put me up with the other fighters as I was a fighter as well. I didn't want to be there; wanted to be in the back with my bow. But I got snagged by a zombie and torn to pieces by a few others. Was resurrected though I soon dropped out of the whole campaign as I wasn't wanting to deal with this player, as well as the GM's methods of gaming.
Needless to say, another player got tired of the inexcusable actions of the first player, stood over him one game night and read him the riot act. That incompetent left and has never returned.

When I started playing with the D&D club up at the University of Kansas so long ago, alot of use continued to play at other times at different place. Over time we drifted apart as we got older and had jobs to deal with. My wife had been one of our original gamer's so we continued when the different groups folded.
The one fellow whose group I was with for a time was a bit of a rules Nazi and wouldn't deviate from the Law of the Book. And when the game evolved over time with Wizards of the Coast controlling the publication of the rules, I just left.
Another fellow had moved in with Don (the GM) and started his own game on Saturdays when he had his sons for the weekend. I came back in for a while, and was having some fun with this campaign. But some other players either couldn't make it or didn't want to show up. So with this pandemic coming through putting the kibosh on the whole thing, I was glad to get away for the time being. And I don't think I'll be going back to it. Got my writing to deal with right now.

There were three fellows in our gaming group who got together and worked out some of the difficult portions of D&D's rules to make them easier to understand and work with. Also, if the situation called for the DM to make a decision and not sure which way to go, he would roll Percentile Dice and call 'High or Low' three times. 0-50 was 'Low', while 51-100 was 'High'. Depending on whether the gamer calls it right during the rolls, allows the DM to determine the course of action on what happens to the player.
But if you call all three rolls wrong, well, the defecation definitely has hit the primary ventilation unit!

Sounds like a hoot. Would be nice to have a set like that.
