Hi guys! This is a new set of 12 artworks I did for the new Star Wars Essential Reader's Companion. Although the dateline for this book was a lot tighter it nevertheless was an enjoyable and rewarding experience.As with the last book I will be posting them in the order of sequence as it appears in the Reader's Companion. Enjoy!
This was another piece that was done purely for the fans. It's from Force Heretic of the New Jedi Order series and it shows the Jedi Expedition led by Grand Master Luke Skywalker exchanging cordial gestures with former enemy and renown Imperial ace pilot, Baron Soontir Fel. He's one of my favorite EU characters mostly because he's an upstanding Imp and the Empire's equivalent of Alliance ace, Wedge Antilles, whom I love.
Fel here is part of the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force but was also formerly a commanding officer in Thrawn's Empire of the Hand before its dissolution....or absorption by the Chiss Ascendancy. The Jedis are on the Chiss homeworld of Csilla and they are on an expedition in search of the mysterious sentient planet, Zonama Sekot, which they believe is the key to defeating the Yuuzhan Vong.

I also love Fel because he's the uberfather of the Fel Empire which is the perfect transformation of the old Empire into a state that is both authoritarian and open-minded and actually the Force-wise most balanced entity ever since they have Imperial Guards that are Jedi but not bound by outdated Jedi-codes.

I am a huge fan of this series and it is really nice to see this! I think I can actually remember this scene it is nice to see it bought to life, and I absolutely love how your drawn LUke here! older but still recognisably himself! I am another of those people who prefer the original novels to the two newer movies.

I'm going to start buying EU content. I'm so very done with Disney's current creative team. Filoni is fantastic, but I don't get the impression he is going to be making any big decisions... Or may even be in the firing line because of how popular he is with people like me...

The first thing I saw was the man wearing an eyepatch, and he reminded me of the Master from Doctor Who.

This is epic. I always liked the pilots the best and the wedge scenes in the movies were always epic as well. I just wish Biggs lived because he was awesome.

This is awesome work! I'm a small Star Wars fan, granted, but I could never read the latest books because of the way they handled Luke's relationship with his son, how they killed Mara and then turned Jacen evil. Not worth my time to read when they are perverting all the characters and making nearly EVERYTHING in the series worth reading damnably depressing.
Still, love the artwork. And Luke has always been one of my favorite characters.

I absolutely love your depictions of Mara. Strong, beautiful, and clearly deadly yet she looks cooly professional here. Not Jedi-Like, but calm. She's got kind of the look of a dancer *and* a hardened Assassin. It's subtle, but pretty awesome.
