Birthday Gift for

All Angela wanted to do was find a way to protect her town from the ongoing assault of Underborough craziness. A shield, a cure, anything would have sufficed as she poured over the dusty, old tome. After a long trudge of research and delving, the young witchling found a spell that sounded promising.

"Summon a Guardian..."

A simple conjuration, at least at first glance. However, as she gathered the supplies and drew her sigils on the stone floor, she couldn't help but notice the book didn't actually describe WHAT the Guardian would look like... or what exactly it would do to guard anything. She shrugged it off and stood in the center of the circle. She took a deep breath and began reciting the spell. With each stanza of the incantation, a soft breeze began to flow around her. The scent of spring dew tickled her nose as she continued the spell, her body shivering against the breeze's sudden chill.

As she finished, a sudden pulse ran through the teen-aged girl. A sudden thumping of something she couldn't describe, an itching of her skin, and an aching of her head. She mewled as the pulse turned to ache, forcing her to her hands and knees as her gloved hands clawed uselessly against the floor. She gasped, grunted, howled, and retched. Every muscle in her body began to tense and tighten, yet when they would relax for a moment they seemed to stretch out further than where they had started. Her legs flinched and flailed, the jerking motion and sudden growth causing the girl's leggings to start to tear. From the ripping spandex, fur could be seen pushing through, a bulge growing just above her rear as she arched her back. Her clothes felt tight and constricting, making it hard to breathe as her body was wracked with shuddering twitches and flinches. She roared, the sound made by her lengthening throat alien and new to her. She tugged at her dress, the material uncomfortable as a thick coat of fur began pushing out. Her hand cramped and seized before a loud tearing sound was heard. She growled and lowered her head, the feeling of cool air now slipping over her bare chest gave momentary relief.

She had to fix this, she had to undo the spell somehow! She had messed up, she shook her head as two bumps began growing from her skull. She... she had to... had to think... her thoughts felt hazy as she grew further, clawed paws poking through the stockings barely clinging to her hind legs. She... she felt so strange... a calm began to wash over her as her bones began to realign and click into place. The pain of the changes were gone as the last shred of her clothing dropped to the floor in tatters. The new creature flexed her feline paws, feeling her sharp talons retract and unsheathe. She lowered her long neck as she sniffed at the clothing.

'Human...'

A simple thought she had before leaving the circle. The Guardian couldn't sense the being who summoned her, but she did sense something amiss with the world outside. Still growing slowly, the creature slipped smoothly through the front door and out into the world. She flexed her wings, feeling the air around her before, with a single flap, took to the air... Maybe from up there she would be able to perform her first duties more efficiently.
