Description
Though I typically prefer the traditional scary face school of jack o'lantern design, the shape of this particular pumpkin seemed more suited to something different. Something... cuter. After all, I am a fan of combining dark and cute. And how often does the pumpkin look a little frightened of you?As with my Shinigami pumpkin, I combined different photos to get the face glow and general natural lighting how I wanted it. In this case, I fiddled with the shutter speed and such to make it feel like a moonlit night instead of late evening, and gave the face lighting image an extra long exposure to make it feel real bright. My photography skills definitely need work, but I think the basic plan worked decently.

I noticed that after I carved it. But I wasn't consciously thinking of shyguys when I designed it, I swear! But thinking of them subconsciously is quite possible, since I like the little guys. They're my favorite ultra-weak Mario game badguy. Take that, Goombas!

Aww, I didn't know pumpkins can be scared. Great job with the pumpkin, though! I still don't get why would people think it's creepy, but I guess it's a matter of perceptions. X3

It's too bad your part of the world doesn't celebrate Halloween, it's a lot of fun to have a holiday themed around scary things. Still, I bet you have celebrations we don't have in the US, so it can't be all bad.

You don't have to tell me the face is cute! It just seems some people find dark incompatible with cute. They see the cute aspects, but the overall dark atmosphere negates it. At least, that's my current theory in a nutshell.
