Okay, people! I have been on DeviantART for only two weeks and already I am so sick and tired of all people thinking that Xion is a Mary-Sue! You're hating on her just to HATE, people!So to make my own contribution to the protection of Xion, I made this little comparison of Xion and Sora of what I have noticed about their personality traits. All I have to say- Sora is the freaking DEFINITION of a Gary-Stu, yet all people looooooove him and give no thought about his flaws, while people are bashing Xion for being a Mary-Sue when she freaking DIES!
Arguments pertaining to Xion:
She has a Keyblade!
Yes, for the same reason Roxas has one- she's made from Sora. Oh yeah, from Sora AND Kairi, TWO Keyblade Wielders!
Xion gets in the way of AkuRoku!
Okay, seriously? Do you hate her for separating a couple? A YAOI couple?! A fictional couple, at that! Axel is just an extremely loyal friend. That's like Sora coming to save Riku because he loves him. IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.
She's a carbon copy of Kairi!
No, she's not. Aside from the hair style and being able to use Keyblades, Xion is quite the opposite of Kairi, if you ask me. Kairi's a Princess of Heart, all giddy and happy while Xion's shy and reclusive, searching for a sole purpose to live.
Xion also gets in the way of Namixas!
You know, I get AKUROKU more than I get Namixas. Namine and Roxas knew each other for five minutes, when they were discussing his fate and who he was, and now they're suddenly supposed to be in love with each other just because Sora and Kairi could be? Roxas cared more for Xion than he ever did for Namine, FACE IT!
Xion's useless!
No, she's not. Without her, your little Sora wouldn't have been completed.

Take a look at this- you guys are blaming Xion for things that can easily make the all-famous Sora a Gary-Stu. Face the truth- Xion is probably the most realistic character in the entire Kingdom Hearts series. Everyone faces death. Everyone faces depression. Everyone faces happiness, everyone wonders why they live at points. All these things of simple human nature was displayed in Xion. I can easily relate to her- Xion is by far my favorite character.
Now, to Sora.
I won't rant entirely about him since I could care less for him and I really don't want to start a war- after all, this is to settle it. However, I do need to point out a thing or two about him that is vital to do so.
You see those characteristics? Now name one person on Earth who's brave AND smart AND funny AND forgiving AND competitive. There are definitely flaws in him that make him human, but these flaws are so, so rarely displayed in opposition to the strengths that it makes me want to barf.
Well, there you have it. That is what I have to say about all of this.

I think that most of the people hating on Xion are either worried that she's going to steal the spotlight from other female charactersΒ or that she's getting in the wayΒ of AkuRoku. I ship SoRiku, but that doesn't mean I hate Kairi! This whole thing is just plain ridiculous, to be honest. I think that Xion is one of the most realistic and relatable characters in the series.

if u have a look, namines appearance doesn't change, and she has the appearance of a younger girl from KH I.Β
second, kairi's heart was inside sora, so when he turned into a heartless, both namine and roxas were born from him, so in technicality, roxas and namine are more like...siblings.
Everyone is assigned to their own opinion, I'm just expressing mine.

You got some very good points but Sora is not smart (he can be an idoit) and being competitive can be a flaw too,but again good points. I personally love Xion.

I agree with ~TinaMichelle , along with a few other points.
You've kind of gone and goofed up Sora's strengths and weaknesses. Yes, his strengths are being heroic, forgiving(ish?), protective, a good fighter, and outgoing.
You could consider being confident a strength, however, Sora has OVER confidence, as demonstraited when he was so willing to take on the huge swarm of Heartless so early in the second game.
Respectful? . . . . . Eeeeeeh, maybe not his greatest strength. He's KIND OF respectful, but at the same time, he's VERY informal.
He is a good fighter, but only because he's growing from his travels. He fights SO OFTEN that he's literally left with no other choice than grow stronger. It's not shown in cut scenes, but it IS shown in the gameplay itself. For example, in both the first game and II, if you run over and try to fight Sephiroth at an earlier level, you won't even stand a chance. Once at max level with just about EVERYTHING you stand a chance, but it's still a major struggle. A Gary-Stu level fighter would be able to effortlessly mop the floor with Sephiroth's face. :u
I'm also impressed with how generous you are with how intelligent Sora is. Sora is, quite frankly, a big Derp. A very big Derp. That's one of the reasons why fans love him so much, because he's such a Derp.
And then several of the things you put in his strengths just go hand in hand. For example, part of being heroic is being brave. In fact, I'm going to change his "outgoing" and "funny" to Charismatic.
So.... This is how I see him

If think about when they say Xion is black-haired Kairi. Well, Vanitas is a black-haired Sora. I never get these arguments with Xion haters. They make no sense. I think they just want a reason to hate

Xion is the best member of Organization XIII because she
doesn't act like everyone else, she is more human than

She is also my only favorite character besides the Shadows.

I don't see whats wrong with her she looks like a basic sword swinging run of the mill hero chick to me.
She is a part of Sora as much as Roxas Without her Sora would not remember Riku, Kairi, Donald, Goofy and all his other friends. Xion is Sora, nothing more nothing less.
Now whats wierd, but likeable, is these Xion/Sora fan arts. What if she ends up as Sora's adopted sister at the end of KHIII.
Now i understand the gullible part of Sora, but he's young he cant help it. He's a GOOD guy, they help people.

Definition of a Mary Sue;
Bubbly girly despite having a very tragic past, being super powerful and having no weakness unless its related to cuteness or her "heart".
Xion is weak, incomplete and technically genderless. She actually TOOK ON the appearance of Kairi because that was Sora's strongest memory. Xion itself is genderless.
Just come back to them with that main line there.

You seem to forget something. The very fact that she is female is what makes fans hate her. Female characters usually take a lot of bashing, even for the very same traits that the male characters are admired for.
