The texture of the charred wood, blended with the movement of the fire really lends a sense of chaos to this piece.
Buts its an enjoyable chaos.
The sharpness of that piece of wood is stark against the blurring fire.
This is a very textural, formal piece.

Looking at my photography as a whole as "very formal" is I think is the most productive way to approach it, yes. Sometimes the formality is my entire focus, other times it is in a supporting role, but in any case being very formal is a constant in how I make all of these

I feel bad fav spamming, but last night I was not in the frame of mind required to comment.
a lot of your work is very formal in composition. The shapes are quite organic, too, making them very pleasing to look at.
Combine the formal qualities with the tonal qualities and your whole body of work is enjoyable.

Fantastic shot of the rather fierce flames! Lovely bright colours and close details

Breathtaking. This is inferno!
Everything looks so sharp and clear and the fire looks really vivid. Great job!

Yes so far I'm alive despite my pollen allergies ¬_¬ My porch was yellow from pollen dusts the other day, damn dandelions
It takes practice to know the timing I was a little too long in this shot I could have froze the fire on the right a bit more, it's a lot like photographing water only and current and speed of the fire changes much more. It also takes a really big fire – little ones don't move/look like a large one and it's hard to make a little camp fire look epic

in the film "Backdraft" they describe fire as a living breathing life form.
