Actually bumble bees normally aren't that aggressive. Even honey bees (and I don't mean the Africanized ones...totally different story with them) can be quite docile. As long as you don't swat at them or anything like that most will ignore you. Wasp species though...like hornets and yellow jackets you do have to watch out for!

Same here! I got stung, years ago, by a wasp right under my left eye...my whole face blew up like a balloon! Let just say NOT a good experience at all. I am not allergic to bees or wasps but still not fun to be stung.

I was with a friend of mine "hunting" for frogs in an abandoned basement that had filled up with water and plants. No house or building other then the cement wall...it was by these new condos that were being built up a block from my house. I was in the water and had just caught a leopard frog, with my friend walking around the outside when I heard her scream, saw her running with a big black cloud chasing her. She yelled at me to get out of the water...yeah a lot like a JAWS movie,when two wasps came over to me. One got me on my elbow and the other right under my eye. I was 10 yrs old at the time. Good thing it was summer time b/c I would have been mortified if I had to go to school with my face looking like a big round watermelon!

Oh my! Well, did you keep the leopard frog? Yeah, good thing you weren't in school. Might've gotten a new nick-name or two!

Oh yeah I held onto that frog with a death grip! Though I screamed bloody murder...that hurt like HELL...I still made sure I didn't let go of the frog. And yeah I can only image some of the names! Kids can be so cruel.
