Normally not one for angel pictures, but this was requested. Couple of meanings in there on this one. I have known far too many people affected by cancer, or had friends who've watched loved ones suffer through the disease, to *not* create a hopeful piece.

The lavender wings is representative of all cancers, but the gems on the chain she holds stand for various cancers: pink (breast), pearl (lung), periwinkle (esophagal) and grey (brain). The angel wears a purple dress, because purple is the color for a survivor of any cancer to wear. The light she carries is for that grain of hope that we all carry, and that we all pray for it to grow. I used the triskele in the window to be kind of an interfaith piece, whether it be the Maiden, Mother & Crone or the Holy Trinity.

Watercolor, India ink and gouache on illustration board. Overall, thrilled with the piece save for the bottom half of the right wing. Swarovski crystals are being added to the blue bands on the hem of her dress, but I do that after the fact, as they don't scan very well.
