Can this piano be played? Great expressive mood to this image.

A once beautiful instrument--look at the beautiful carving on the legs. But it probably weighs a ton as they don't build them like they used to! It still looks playable, if horribly out of tune. Did you try it? The key covers are in beautiful condition and the hammers looks all right too. This could be restored. Β You've done a lovely job on the HDR and in creating a mood here. An abandoned instrument is even sadder than an abandoned house.

Thanks for your firendly comment. I tried it, and of course itΒ΄s out of tune. Meanwhile, the owner closed the location with wood and nails.
I hope, he will save the instrument...

Well, the boarding up of the house may prevent some vandalism, but certainly the mice and other critters love to nest in old pianos and chew off the felt of the hammers and dampers for nesting material. Let's hope that he does save the instrument! Or at least let someone take it who will. Sadly there are not so many people who would bother, yet there are so many others who would just die to have a piano to play! So glad that yo gave it a try anyway, am sure the piano appreciated it! I think it's probably obvious that I am a pianist myself and also a teacher. It's so hard to see instruments abandoned like this . . .

The scrappers here would've lifted that piano the second the boards went over the windows.
