Description hello people, my first vector! Done in Illustrator! (that means that it is a real vector, doesn't it...?) Actually I found out just some weeks ago about the whole vector thing, and would really, really appreciate some comments from you vector artists (and not only )about my work. I searched for decent tutorials, but there aren't many about vector and illustrator... So, pleeease, tell me what did I do wrong, what did I do wright, what should I improve and so on.

P.S. Oh man, that gradient mesh... I don't think I'll ever be able to make it what I want! That's why the image is kinda flat, I tried with the gradient, but I think I have to practice for ages before I'll be able to use it.

hello, thanx for your comment Unfortunately I don't have any illustrator tutorials... don't remember if I had before, cause I did this vector a some months (and some disk formats) ago, so...

But you can try search here on deviantart, there may be some tutorials about illustrator as well

oooh! that's an awesome first vector. a little more value in the face would have been cool, but it's still very good. and yeah, that gradient mesh is a pain to figure out at first. so confusing. but i love the colors and gradients in the hair. very nice.

that's the best way to figure out what looks cool. just do it and see. i'm a strong advocator of messing around as a form of learning.

This is great, actually...if you're wary of the gradient mesh, try using layered transparencies in varying skin tones. I've found it to be useful. The mesh tool is not too difficult to master, you just have to start small.

This is a great start. WAY better than my first vector.

well, I don't know about your first vector cuz I haven'n seen it, but I just checked out your gallery and must tell you that I really like it (especially your imagination and ideas)
