Wylde, wow, this is a serious mind-blower in terms of impressiveness. I mean the surrealism is so eye-grabbing that, even though I may not fully understand the meaning behind it, there are still parts that show some sense of reason. Like for instance, the pocket-watch (it might just be a big locket, but does look like a pocket watch in design) with the broken heart picture hanging from the key-hole heart-scar, and the way the strings all tie together on the chain of the watch/locket, all make me think that the meaning behind this piece has to do with (at least partially) the heart. The background with itβs stained darkness from below and blood splatters above aid the broken heart in showing that this may have a lot do with pain, but not necessarily the focus of the idea. It is the bright, glowing wisps of blue and stars, blown from her hand that make me think this may be the true focus of the idea.
Er, anyways, I think you did very well on the hands, having a very nice sense of shading as to define the form of her fingers and where her wrist should be, I really like the pierced rings and bunched up string to show a nice anchored connection to Wyldeβs bust, but in a somewhat indirect way. And the coloring overallβ¦. Her hair and β¦my god, β¦the SaMoooth coloring of her brown fur...

The Broken pocket watch heart is to symbolise her position in life as the Queen of Broken hearts. Since her heart was shattered, she tried to fix herself by taking it out, and put it back together with an old pocket watch. That way, it can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'...no matter what. The reason it's attached to the keyhole of her scar is pretty obvious...she needs to wind her heart from time to time, because it runs down, otherwise.
The strings are meant to show that even tho she's not all there, she is still all together.
The BG means pretty much, EXACTLY what you thought. Everything in the picture was a bit random at first...but it all ties in to a pretty simple idea I had...mostly..even tho everything falls apart, there is always something good.
Her fur took 4 layers of tan sharpie ( hence why she's so dark here)

Ah ok, I had a strong feeling that the strings were meant to symbolize what you said. That particular part reminded me of a boat tied to a dock that floats around on the water but is still held from drifting away due to the rope.
But yeah, the coloring was really worth the four layers of work for quality. Wyldeβs fur is streak-free and the tones just define her body so damn well. (in retrospect I probably should have mentioned this with my first comment

It's wunderfully contradictory and complex, you can almost get a good dreamy feel, and then you get slapped with the broken heart locket, the rings and blood.. I don't know if it's supposed to be pain or peace, but I likes the mix. ^^ *huggles you*
