Could someone please explain to me how “naive, well-meaning individual who just wants to find somewhere to fit in and be accepted meets and befriends a small, yellow, cute, harmless-looking creature that turns out to be a sociopathic, sadistic eldritch abomination with reality warping powers, who worms its way into every aspect of his life and begins to destroy it from the inside out all under the guise of ‘helping’ but in fact doing everything simply because it was bored, lying to him, abusing him, estranging him from his brother, causing the near-death of his closest friend, and leading to said individual adopting a ‘Trust No One’ policy to keep anyone else from having to get caught up in his problems and getting hurt” was a character arc I somehow managed to stumble across twice in the span of a mere 8 months? It’s like the universe is conspiring to kill me with a very specific subset of Feels or something, I swear.How does one shade armor omg.

Oh yes, the last chapter and epilogue were posted a couple weeks ago. That's why I drew this. I mean, I was planning on doing it for awhile, but reading the finale gave me the final push I needed to start. As for the ending itself, I'll copy-paste the review I wrote over on my tumblr:
I started weeping uncontrollably a third of the way through the last chapter and didn’t stop until part of the way through the epilogue. I’m emotionally compromised and also drained. It really didn’t end the way I thought it would, but honestly that’s not a bad thing, I just am still having a hard time wrapping my mind around it is all. I have a feeling the author is going to get a lot of questions about the ending, but I’m willing to wait on the answers. I am overall satisfied with the one we got.
Congrats, unrestedjade, you have managed to make me cry more times at a fanfic than I’ve done in at least the past 5 years, and have simultaneously written something that has automatically skyrocketed onto my list of Top 10 Fanfictions Ever. Depends. The earlier ones are shorter, and the later ones tend to be much longer. Not horrifically long, though. You could probably blow through one of those in 15-20 minutes if you're a fast reader.

Apparently is the favorite colour of everyone vile.
Now I'm imagining an undead in symbiosis with some man-eating plant that grows through his body or a plant that took over the corpse of a knight and moves it along. Probably pretty far from Papyrus, but that image evoked these ideas for me.
Aargh, I really would like to (and I can deal with a lot of darkness), but I have so much else I want to read or do. My time is limited, and I shouldn't get pulled into another fandom. But it sounds so good...

Well, you're the one who knows your spare time schedule better than anyone else, but I really do recommend the fic. If you have time to read normal books, then I'd highly recommend carving out some time to read this one. It's better than a lot of published works I've had to read in my time.
