Third in a series portraying APH characters (and some OCs) in their theoretical respective godtier outfits from the webcomic Homestuck.

Doom
Doom is systems, limitations, and sacrifice. It represents things that are going to happen - such as death as an end - and systems that cause them to happen. Restraint is also a large part of it, such as Sollux limiting himself, to the degree that it was a relief when he no longer had to do it again. Furthermore, we see his calm acceptance of not being a leader anymore to increase the odds of his team’s total success. However, it also has to do with sacrifice, giving up your ability to affect reality in order to effect great change. In addition, such knowledge of systems can make people able to work within them extremely well, such as Sollux’s intense skill in programming computers. Doom players tend to be somewhat gloomy, and also tend to limit themselves. That is both their strength and their weakness. They know how much they can do, and know that if they try to do anything beyond that, they will hurt themselves and consume energy. As a result, they are comfortable with their limitations. Again, this is both their greatest strength and greatest weakness. They do not often actively pursue growth, but at the same time they will not likely overreach themselves and hurt themselves as a result, as well as the fact that knowing their limitations allows them to know exactly what they can do, and maintain high levels, as well as knowing how much they can get for sacrifice in total. Doom is the opposite of Life, subjecting itself to systems and limiting its ability to impact reality, whereas Life does the opposite.

Seer
A Seer’s job is to, rather predictably, see. But whereas this just starts out with isolated incidents – a fact here, a situation there – the ultimate role of this Class is to evolve a simple desire to know and become a true desire to understand. A Seer is something like a mapmaker, using isolated incidents, understanding what causes them, then building a larger ideal out of these. But, if a mapmaker were to only over focus on the smaller data points and never build a larger, more coherent narrative out of these ideas, they would be like a gentleman without a hat. As a result, the difference between a good Seer and a bad Seer can largely be considered their ability to gain context. Drawing from mythological roots, a lot of the role of the Seer in SBURB seems to have been influenced by characters like Merlin, Tiresias, and Gandalf. And one thing you can note is that while these characters do not attempt to dominate reality, at the same time they are not afraid to kick some butt when the occasion calls for it. Their job is to use their understanding in order to guide reality, and while this does mean they will sometimes take extreme actions, their goals are much more focused on the idea that they are looking for general avenues for reality to flow down, not restricting it to a channel. But in general, their mission is clear: understand reality through their Aspect and carefully make choices to guide it in the direction they want. The opposite of a Seer is a Witch, which actively shapes and focuses their element in order to effect change rather than passively understanding and conducting their element.

I chose this Classpect for Canada based on a number of reasons, the most predominant of which is historical. Canadian history is rife with examples where the nation limited itself - such as choosing to remain a colony of Great Britain and all the ramifications thereof – but also of times where it accomplished nigh-impossible feats through great personal sacrifice, such as its exploits during both World Wars. Its general role in the world is also generally a more passive one, guiding events in the direction it wants them to go rather than taking active measures to change them.

Matthew’s personality itself (at least my head-canon version of it) also fits this Classpect, IMHO. Canada is practical, sensible, cautious, and dutiful, the pragmatic realist to America’s idealistic optimist. He will not rock the boat unless he feels it’s absolutely necessary, but when he does, everyone definitely feels it. While he is most certainly not a pushover, Canada strikes me as more of an observer rather than an fully active participant, and won’t get involved with international affairs except for when he feels it’s his duty, someone pisses him off, or if he sees some personal benefit to it. He seems to avoid dealing with conflict as much as he can, and if he has to, he’s still reasonably polite about it (manners is a system too, after all).

Because I didn’t want to give Matthew those ballet slippers that Seers normally seem to have, I took my cue from satan-tier’s Seer redesign and gave him leg wrappings instead. As for what he’s doing with his Doomy powers, let’s pretend he’s setting fire to a tree just outside our range of vision or something. XD
