Oh. My. Gosh.
Why did no one ever TELL me what the pen tool did?? What kind of idiot was I, drawing with my mouse all these years?!? Seriously people!
This was a heck of a lot of fun to do. It was a lot of "new"s for me. First time with the pen tool (I am never going back), first time with this sort of semi-cell shading thing, first time trying to mimic Disney's style completely without adding too much of my own style....it was a lot of fun. You're going to see more Disney stuff from me for the next while. *knock on wood*
But okay, seriously.....if ANY musical fan sees The Princess and the Frog, and says they DIDN'T immediately think of Wicked during Charlotte's dressing-up-Tiana scene...they're lying. I mean, come on! Bubbly, popular, blond girl obsessed with pink and glitter, dressing up pretty-but-slightly-drab-nobody? Tiana even turns into a GREEN frog!!!!
Charlotte/Glinda's dress was a blast to design. Tiana's I wanted green, of course, and tried to keep it a 20s-30s style while incorporating the lilypad-ness of her princess dress. She's not very recognizable though, I wish I had kept her hair up.
It's not fair...black people look good in absolutely anything. If I wore that dress, I'd look like I was dying of a wasting disease...
So, here is my little tribute to both my favourite Broadway musical Wicked (and one of my favourite numbers "Popular") and Disney's The Princess and the Frog (and my favourite character, the amazingly awesome Charlotte).

I'm glad I wasn't the only on who thought of Wicked during The Princess and the Frog. Charlotte and Tiana's friendship just screamed Galinda and Elphie to me, and, I've developed a habit of singing "Popular" in my head everytime I see a scene of them together in the movie. It fits so perfectly. The song itself could've even been inserted to the movie, to give Charlotte a musical number. Now that would be amazing! I'm glad to know someone else has Charlotte as their favorite character, she defied many of Disney's clichΓ©s; I just love her!
Now, I love the artwork! It's so beautiful; Tiana's dress is so beautiful; making it green was a nice touch! And the expressions on their faces are amazing and so true to their characters. I also love the "Popular" lyrics in the corner. Excellent job! I'll have to take a look at more of your art sometime soon. This piece is amazing!

*O* this is fantastic! you really nare a terrific artist to recreate galinda and elfie in the form of lottie and tiana! wicked is one of my favorite musicals of all time and the princess and the frog was one of the best disney movies i've seen in a while so this is really amazing. u've got a gift!

Hee hee- I hope Princess and the frog becomes a musical someday. I would imagine some serious quick changes would be involved along with carefully designed costumes for the main couple for easy transformations.

I imagine that the frog costumes would be like from the lion king or the little mermaid, but slightly diffrent: I could easily see frog tiana's costume having flapper elements for one thing.
