Description The ancients had mastered the control of the elements to such a degree that they were able to contain the raw elements within magical spheres. These spheres could then be used by a master wizard in his own magical spells, adding an immense power previously undreamed of.

Of course, some cynics said that the wizards simply put water and a stone inside glass spheres, had an empty one to represent air, and the fire one was just a small flame magnified by the glass.

Naturally, they were branded as unbelievers and hunted down.

Thanks

Overall the piece is quite dark, but I was concerned that if I made it much lighter, the fire wouldn't have the same impact.

Thanks

I always like to put a little story behind a piece, or at least something to give people a chance to get more out of a piece than just the image.

xalthorn In reply to Resident-seven [2005-10-07 11:45:13 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I like Bryce as it lets me mess around with primitives when I'm not awake enough to do things with Poser.

It took a fair old time to render, but I'm pleased with the result.

Yep.. do you know anything about alchemy?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

xalthorn In reply to ll-Nightwolf-ll [2005-10-06 20:45:04 +0000 UTC]

Are we talking about the science of alchemy or the trickery of alchemists?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ll-Nightwolf-ll In reply to xalthorn [2005-10-07 00:11:05 +0000 UTC]

I'm not sure could you explain what the trickery of alchemists is?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

xalthorn In reply to ll-Nightwolf-ll [2005-10-07 11:43:43 +0000 UTC]

I mean that throughout history, whenever you get a population with a mix of uneducated and educated, the educated find ways of 'fooling', 'tricking' or otherwise making themselves look more impressive to the uneducated.

Oh I was refering to practical alchemy Do you know anything of it because your picture makes me think of it

xalthorn In reply to ll-Nightwolf-ll [2005-10-08 06:01:22 +0000 UTC]

Not really, I didn't do chemistry for very long at school and I have the utmost respect for the assorted materials used (mercury, phosphorus, plasma, etc). I wouldn't mess around without a severe amount of training
