Description
The quiet electric hum was the first thing Nightshade heard. It came in slowly as she returned to consciousness. Her head was swimming, and she ached all over. She groaned, trying to open her eyes. “Nnh…wha…what happened?” She thought to herself. She tried rubbing her heavy eyes, but found she was unable to. Something was holding her arms down...a familiar something, as she was lying on the ground.

“Hmmh?....mmph?” is all she could manage to say, as she felt something soft on her tongue, and something holding it in, her mouth trapped open a bit by a knot. “No…no…aw come on!” she said in her head, realizing what was going on. She could feel her arms had been tied behind her, with ropes going above and below her breasts, keeping her arms pinned to her torso, and ropes were tied at her ankles and below her knees, keeping them stuck together. Her eyes slowly opened, greeting bright light hat made her squint a bit. She rolled onto her side and looked at the ground. She was on some hard tiled floor, not the comfiest either. Once her eyes adjusted, she started to look around, but was met with more harsh light.

From what she was able to make out, it wasn’t what she expected. Instead of another stuffy looking warehouse, she found herself to be surrounded by glass walls, and behind them was where the bright was coming from. Even the ceiling was the same, glass with large lights behind it. It took her a moment to figure out what the reason for this was, but her thoughts were cut short by the sound of a projection appearing on the wall nearest to her, and on it, was the nefarious smile of a familiar face.

“Well well well, look who’s finally up” Said the red haired villainess, known as the Science Wizard. “Hey there shadypoo, have a nice nap?”

“Mmh?! Shhnce whzhrd?!” Nightshade blurted out from under her gag. She struggled to sit up, to look at the screen. Seeing that grin brought back a flash of memory. She had been investigating the disappearance of her fellow Damselfly, Aurora, around her last known location. During her search she was interrupted by being snatched by long metallic arms. Before she could use her powers to phase out of them, she felts shocks hitting her all over her body, and almost immediately after, her body went limp. As she was beginning to lose consciousness she saw that damn smile, then darkness.

“Yep, that’s riiiight! Me, the smartest of your little rogues gallery.” She gave Nightshade a proud smile. “You made it so easy Nightshade. I knew if I let Aurora be tracked here, at least one of you pesky little flies would show up. I had just had to wait with my buddybots and some extra strength tasers, and bam, here you are.”

It was hard for Nightshade not to roll her eyes at parts of this monologue. However, her attention was drawn more to the mention of Aurora. “Hm? Whrh hs Aurhra?!” She yelled into the knot gag, feeling angrier now that she knew who had taken Aurora.

“Oh yeah, her. Don’t worry about your little ninja friend. She’s in one of my testing labs, where you will be too! Well, after some more of your super powered teammates show up, that is.” The Science Wizard replied.

“Whht?” Nightshade asked, pulling at her bonds, wriggling a bit on the floor.

“Well, I can’t exactly be considered even a decent scientist if I don’t use multiple test subjects. I want to see how certain pedibus stimulation affects metahumans, such as yourself and some of your teammates. Pedibus means foot by the way” the villainess taunted, sticking her tongue out a bit. “Now, until I nab some others, why don’t you enjoy your stay? I made this room especially for you, you know. “

Nightshade raised a brow, but soon remembered what she was thinking before. In haste, she tried using her powers to summon shadow hands, but every time she tried, only a little shade appeared before it evaporated into the light. “nn! Yhu bhtch!” Nightshade cursed at the screen.

“Heh, what? You didn’t think people wouldn’t start figuring it out, would you? I mean, the signs are all there! Rarely seen in the daytime, always attempts to shut the power down before storming a building. Your weakness was just begging to be figured out. And now, here we are.” The Science Wizard exclaimed.

Nightshade took advantage of the moments the villainess was distracted with her monologue to reach for the knife she kept hidden in the back of her belt. However, once her hand was back there, she felt nothing there. “Mmh?!”

“What’s the matter? Oh….looking for this?” the science wizard asked, grinning as she held up a small military grade knife. “Heh, I almost let you keep it, just to see what would happen, but I thought this would be much more fun. And it was! Haha!” She laughed at the screen.

“Grr, dhmmht..” Nightshade said to herself. She tried loosening the ropes again, but found they were too secure. She glared at the screen, staring daggers at her captors.

“Aw, how cute. That’s what I love about you superheroes, always so defiant. That won’t help you much this time though, will it? And trust me when I say this, that’s going to go away real quick once the testing starts! Until then, and when more of your little friends show up, enjoy your stay in the light room! See ya!” the villainess cackled as the screen shut off and disappeared.

“nh, ght bhck hhrh dhmmht! Lht mh gh!” Nightshade demanded at the screenless wall. She went back to struggling as best she could, but to little avail. She rolled on the cold floor, tugging and straining for a few moments before the screen came back, with Science Wizards smug look on display.

“Hey again. I was watching you struggling, adorable to watch by the way, and I thought of something. Why not help motivate you a bit?” She said, before the screen changed to view from a camera in one of the Science Wizards labs. Center screen was Aurora, strapped down to a metallic table, from her ankles to her head. She had been bit gagged and her shoes removed, leaving her bare feet exposed. She was laughing wildly into the gag, struggling as best she could as buddybots were using a variety of tools on her feet.

“Ahrhra!” Nightshade called out, recognizing her teammate.

“Indeed! I thought watching my testing on your teammate would help keep you going! So, enjoy they show, and be sure to put on a good one for me until your friends start showing up! And most importantly, have fun.” The Science Wizard laughed to herself right before the mic cut off. Now the only sound louder than the buzzing lights was the sounds of Aurora being forced to laugh into her gag. Nightshade struggled in vain to escape, but nothing worked. The sounds of her tormented teammate didn’t help keep her spirits up much either. She laid down after more struggling, trying to recover from her struggles. At this point, there wasn’t much she could do but hope her teammates manage to find and free her. Until then, she could only watch Aurora struggle in vain as well, and wonder to herself as to what torments the Science Wizard would force her through.
