Description The third of the three Jewels of Dragonwing Desert and famous holiday location.
Copper Bay.

People

The majority of the people of Copper Bay are unsurprisingly Copper Dragonborn and Dragonkin.
However, other scale colors make up almost half of the city's population.
The natives of Copper Bay are a lighthearted and fun loving people, they joke and jest and tend to take all news with wit and laughter.
Even the native Dragonborn, who in other cities, are usually seen as stoic and the very epitome of discipline and order, tend to be jokesters and pranksters.
Whilst one would need magic to hear a Redscale legionnaire laugh on duty, a Copper Cavalier can be heard laughing even in the face of danger.

Love tend to be seen as a free commodity in Copper Bay and is considered one of the main reasons why there are so many children of different scale color born in Copper Bay.
Quick Trysts and moments of passion is common in Copper Bay, however those that have married one another tend to be some of the most faithful in all of Dragon.

Due to their lighthearted nature and easygoing personalities, there are plenty who believe that the people of Copper Bay are naΓ―ve or even foolish.
These are quickly shown just how wrong they are as the natives of Copper Bay are very clever and just because they happen to enjoy their lives with laughter, love and song, doesn't make them any less capable than those of other cities.

Song, dance and stories are the lifeblood of the Copper Bay natives, a good joke can spread like wildfire through the city and a grand tale will soon have a few hundred variants within days.
During the day, fishermen will haul their nets whilst making up new tales and jokes whilst pearl divers look for pearls and clams to make Nacre.
At night, the city is said to become even more lively than during the day, taverns, inns and bars are all filled with singing and dancing which makes it's way onto the streets as well.
Because of this, one can usually find a Copper Bay Native having a quick nap during the day, most employers have given up trying to punish this as it usually ends up with the employer having no workers.
The rich nightlife of Copper Bay is one of the main attractions for tourists from other parts of Dragon.

These tourists are usually of the middle class, looking for entertainment without having to deal with tropical weather of the Shredded Wing Archipelago nor the heat or expensive prices of Azure Scale City.
Of course there are a few who travel there to seek more carnal entertainment, however these usually end up finding something far greater.
Love.

Riding is a favored activity in Copper Bay, their horses and skilled riders have won them the Great Jewel Race several times.
Their army tends to favor fighting on horseback as well.
The hill breed of Copper Bay are known to be large and lively, they tend to match the temper of their riders and can go from playful to a fierce beast according to the situation.

These Horses can be seen wearing armored barding with an equally armored Cavalier atop it.
These mounted warriors bring the law to the lawless outskirts outside of Copper Bay and fight any monsters that would threaten it's citizens.
Most of the Copper Cavaliers are Copper Dragonborn.

Food and Wealth

Whilst nowhere near as rich as Azure Scale City, Copper Bay is a wealthy city.
It's riches comes primarily from the Tourists that visit the City for it's beautiful clear waters and beaches.
However, the city also exports plenty of Fish, Shellfish, Dates, Figs, Cattle and Meat.
Among it's more exotic exports are Pearls, Nacre made into jewelry and fine items and of course, their famous horses.
The main buyer of horses from Copper Bay is the Imperial Military Suppliers, who buy the horses in order to supply the Redscale Legion with hardy and tough horses capable of carrying the large and strongly built legionnaires across the land.
The primary buyer of the city's Nacre and Pearls as well as the jewels made from these is Azure Scale City.

The clothing of most of the people of Copper Bay tend to be comfortable and simple.
Those who work in the harbor and the fishing boats tend to wear little more than what decency demands, whilst those who live at the outskirts and the hills tend to wear clothing more appropriate to the weather.
Those that stand out in the crowd are the bards with their red pants, vests and of course their feathered hats.

Wonders and Entertainment

Unsurprisingly, Copper Bay has it's own set of Arcane receivers to receive live news on the Great Jewel Race.
Additionally, at the end of the Great Jewel Race that is held in the Month of Copper, the Grand Bard Festival is held.
During this time, there is a large increase in visitors to the city, including several dragons who appreciate good humor, song and dance.

There is barely any moment of silence during this time as the people and visiting bards all sing and dance both day and night.
The great circus of Copper Bay is built to allow as many people as possible to see and hear the performing bards.

Next to the circus is Copper Bay's most famous building.
The Great Bard College.
With a view that lets those within to see all of Copper Bay, the large tower houses countless books and just as many scribes and bards.
Ready to write and sing both tale and song added to the colleges libraries.

Whilst other colleges teaches only one style, the Copper Bay College teaches several different styles.
Those trained within are skilled in almost every field, be it with a sharp blade and spell or an even sharper wit and tongue.

The Copper Bay College has one specific style who is said to have tongues so sharp their words can cut like swords.

One of the main duties of the Bards is the collection of information.
This they do by writing songs about different events.
Because of this, the Headmasters of the Bards College are quite knowledgeable about the goings on in the world and thus so are the city's rulers.

The greatest goal of any bard is to write of a tale so great that it goes down in history.
However, many bards instead end up as the one the tale is written about.
Much to their dismay as writing about ones own deeds is considered as being a braggart.

One such story is about a bard who played a prank on a Blue Scaled Arcane knight which ended up with the Knight challenging the Bard to a duel.
The duel began with fighting, only to be replaced with flirting, which turned back into fighting followed by a few minutes of rest and more flirting, only to return once again to fighting followed by flirting and finally a marriage between the two, all in the span of a single evening.
This particular tale is true, however the gender of the two is unknown as there are no less than twenty different couples fits the heroes of the story.

Because of this, many famous warriors, mages and imperial agents tend to end up with a few bards following them and recording their deeds.
This is something that the Redscale Legionnaires tend to find quite infuriating as their "stalkers" don't pose a threat to their operations nor do they break the rules of the legions, however their constant presence, ceaseless stream of questions and general carefree personalities tend to infuriate the strict and disciplined Redscales.

One special event is held when a Copper Bay Bard dies, during this time a special gathering is held where the friends, rivals, companions, lovers and family of the Bard all tell the tales about the deceased.
However the goal of each of the stories is to make those present laugh.
For the death of a Bard is a tragedy, but the funeral is always a comedy.

Beyond the Circus and College, Copper Bay has countless inns, bars, taverns and restaurants.
they also have guided tours of the hills and mountains of the outskirts as well as their famous beaches.

Dangers

Copper Bay is relatively safe from dangers and has surprisingly little crime, many believe that the people of Copper Bay are just far to happy to turn to crime.
Outside however, plenty of bandits can be found in the hills and mountains, these tend to attempt to steal away horses among other things.
Particularly vile and viscous bandits tend to be swiftly dealt with by the Copper Cavaliers, however the hills and mountains have far to many hiding spots for them to be able to clear out every bandit.
There are the occasional dangers from the sea, in the form of wild Dragon Turtles or similar great sea beasts that sometimes find their way to Copper Bay.
There are also hillside predators and other more mundane dangers that occasionally threaten Copper Bay.
Sometimes however, powerful winds can cause storms that threaten the people of Copper Bay.

Ambitions

The main Ambition of Copper Bay is to become THE Jewel of Dragonwing Desert.
