is this animated pose to pose or straight ahead?
i'm guessing straight ahead cause i think i see his back getting longer throughout the animation
i suggest using pose to pose in the future

It is very nice but he gets taller when he goes down. But yeah, animating stickmans is not very easy.

also i know you must get this question asked every second but what is your production of when the new O.O will come out?

TileIsKuel [2015-06-24 06:14:50 +0000 UTC]

yeah i know its meant to look cool but just for next time make the movements more human since at the start it look as if he is swimming and it is not human instinct to dive forward like that.

XanyLeaves In reply to TileIsKuel [2015-06-24 06:19:32 +0000 UTC]

It's not really supposed to look human, I'm just testing some stuff out, if it looks smooth then I'm happy.

Xany, you said you didn't use a tablet right? My question is how do you make the lines look so smooth?! XD

Whenever I draw on Flash, It looks like utter garbage and makes me frustrated when it doesn't look good :/

This was very neat! And I would reccommend you animate that first part on one's. The movement of the arms flailing should be more clear and smooth so it is easier to identify.

Nice. Very smooth and fluid motion, and the lines' thickness is very consistent (something I have a problem with in frame-by-frame, haha). I do like thre reflection you added there, nice touch. The only thing "off" or "wrong" is that the stick figure's torso seems to stretch and contract a lot of times, it's very inconsistent. I'd try to keep it, y'know, around the same, if you can. And the sudden sharp bend the stick figure has when he's getting up is kind of out-of-place, and looks odd, in my eyes anyway. And his "run-off-screen" thing at the end was rather slow if he's supposed to be running. Other than that, the animation was great. I'd just work on a couple things.

When animating something like this, you need to animate on one's, not twos's

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

XanyLeaves In reply to AnimationCreated [2015-06-23 22:24:33 +0000 UTC]

It really depends on style, with a slow, heavy movement like this, two's are usually the way to go, one's usually lead to wiggly lines and inconsistent movements when animating slow and weighty movements.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SweetOldAccount2 In reply to XanyLeaves [2015-06-23 22:28:50 +0000 UTC]

can you set it to 12 fps and animate on ones? I usually do that.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

XanyLeaves In reply to SweetOldAccount2 [2015-06-23 22:33:17 +0000 UTC]

Yes but sometimes you need to add in a quick frame every now and then to smooth things out.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

SweetOldAccount2 In reply to XanyLeaves [2015-06-23 22:53:13 +0000 UTC]

that makes sense.

AnimationCreated In reply to XanyLeaves [2015-06-23 22:48:55 +0000 UTC]

The poses make it seem like this movement is more delicate. Arms flailing in the air usually needs to be drawn by one's. Take for instance Dipper's movement from the Gravity Falls theme song:Β youtu.be/Z6usKhzL8uI?t=18s

XanyLeaves In reply to AnimationCreated [2015-06-23 22:59:19 +0000 UTC]

You make a good point, but I have to use an excuse and say: that's Disney. They can do that with the animation without having to worry about wiggly lines and inconsistencies, which is a risk for an amateur animator like me.

Although I understand what you're saying.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

XanyLeaves In reply to XanyLeaves [2015-06-23 23:04:53 +0000 UTC]

In fact, some animators like to work the other way around, making slow movements on one's and fast movements on two's, which is also effective if done correctly, which I suppose I didn't.
