Backgrounds . . . backgrounds . . . backgrounds . . . . .I'm glad to say I've ALMOST mastered backgrounds! Still a few things I need to practice before I master backgrounds.
This picture could possibly be one of the issue covers for my comic> SatBK: Chaotix.

With this picture, I sketched the backgrounds with regular graphite pencil. Next, I sketched in the characters with the blue lead, and I filled out the final details with the read lead.
I think for futue sketches, I'll sketch the character just with blue lead instead of red. I'll use red for special effects, speedlines, speach bubbles, etc.
You guys should try sketching with blue lead and read lead! It's so nifty! Even if you guys don't have blue or red lead for mechanical pencils, colored pencils will do.

It took a while, and careful planning where each tree would go. I studied how different artists made their trees, and then I tried making trees on my own.

So the backgrounds you made are mostly inspired by other artists? I should probably do something like that, it might help me in practicing drawing backgrounds.

Yeah, pretty much. I copied other styles first, and it helped me develop my own style of drawing. So, I did copy other artists work for practice. And from copying other styles, I created my own.

It is! It really helps strengthen the difference between characters and backgrounds.
