Description Version one for my new main... I think I'm going to have a less... formal... version for her as well. But. Anyway. Here go the notes and thought process.

Jehoel is actually the name of one of the Seraphs in Christian Theology (( Seraphs being the six winged, highest level of angels, also referred to in the Book of Revelation... though they took a bit of a twist.. Which I'm somewhat covering. ))

Anyway, hence the wings. She is... (( hard to tell from lack of color )), a mix of bottom half Horse, and top half Lion/Egyptian Mau. So. White legs, Grey body, black markings. Buuuttt... Her face is going to be pure white as well, as... I have her wearing a mask. Which will be more obvious when this is finished.

As Jehoel was the Angel of Presence, this biznatch is gonna be super mystical-like. Almost like a ghost, with the ability to vanish into smoke. ((Think elementals in Chronicles of Riddick. Like that. )) As such, the mask expression will only change if she goes and does that. Becauseeeeeee... her actual face ain't gonna be so pretty.

Rationale? She's an angel. However, though I'm going to have her with great big ol' white angel wings, and white clothing.... the main part of her is going to be dulled to the grey, because Angel's are only how they're perceived. They appear different to everyone, therefore one man's demon can be another's angel. And she's going to be a creation to get this point across.

Also, she's obviously walking down the stairs to heaven. But. If you pay attention, her body has every culture and religion represented. Namely because of my own views.

Her mask/ the Scarab around her neck, as well as the fact that she's a Feline, and an Egyptian Mau, cover Egyptian culture. (( Felines were worshiped as God's in animal form, and scarabs are related to rebirth )).

Hair, attire, and headdress are Roman inspired.

Right shoulder has the Jewish and Hindu symbols on it.
Left shoulder has the Arab crescent and un yin an' yang.

Right arm: 'resence of Mind' or 'ετοιμότητα' (etoimotita). ((Greek.))

Left arm: Pentacle and 'Guardian' in arabic.

Left leg: Chinese symbols for 'Honor', 'Virtue', and 'Wisdom' on top, and 'Faith' in Runic down her lower leg. And obviously, the crucifix is engraved on the crests at her waist.

As well, the half- white horse is relating to the white horses raining down from heaven to battle evil in the Book of revelation. The lion being in relation to one of the Seraphs having the appearance of a lion, and having many many many eyes... all over the place. (( She's just going to have a bunch under her mask. ))

Soooo yeah. There we go. Xappho being all technical and symbolic with her characters again.

Oh, and the piece is set up this way becaaaaaaauseeee I want to practice lighting... and I think this will be badass. Lmfao. Cus I get to paint pretty shit, and work with lighting, and tons of textures. ^^

More wings! MOAR!

It starts to feel redundant to say how pretty and rich this new design is. They always are.

I'm curious about the motive behind having symbols from that many religions, though. Some kind of angelic being transcending separate dogmas, an "universal angel" ?

As I explained earlier in Osh's comment, it's mainly my personal beliefs. I believe a) That 'Angels' are only as perceived... therefore, she has a double appearance. On one hand she'll symbolize all the things that are found 'beautiful' by people, on the other, she'll be a little monster.

Second, By personal opinion, I believe that all the world's religions are generally the same. They all teach moral goodness, and give answers and a meaning of the afterlife, etc. etc. to people. However, we constantly fight and go to war over who's theory or religion is better... Which I find to be wrong. In my opinion, we were given the ability to think and make up our own minds for a reason. "Unthinking faith is a curious gift to give to the creator of the thinking mind." One of my favorite quotes... So, by my rational... The DIFFERENCES in our religions is really nothing more than who/whatever created us, putting things into terms that we would better understand, or are more suited for us to believe. For instance, a Christian obviously believes in Christ, whether it was a belief they came to on their own, or if they were raised with it. Therefore, unless they're very open minded to new ideas, most of them find the idea of say, the Greek gods of old mythology, to be entirely false and unbelievable, and are taught that they are simple deities. The Muslim faith teaches that Jesus was a prophet.... So their ability to accept the Christian belief in the 'Son of God', is slim, as is that of the Jewish... who believe only in one true God. And even those who don't follow a specific religion, but have their own views... I don't believe their views are wrong. I think they believe in the way they were meant to believe. And we shouldn't try to 'save' or 'convert' people either, in my opinion. If, in listening to someone elses views, it strikes a chord in our brain and makes us think of something differently, or understand something better... then that's when we should rub off... but still while making others THINK and reach their own conclusions.

In the same way, we fight over the name/names of God, and how many there are. I wonder why it wouldn't make sense that different languages would all have different names? And why some cultures, such as the Greek mythology... couldn't also be theorized that they have a God for every aspect of life... which all together combine into one to answer all of their questions... While the Christians have simply molded them into one. We even feed off of each other. The Christian God bears a striking resemblance to Zeus. The modern interpretation of Angels wear Apollo's crown of light.

All in all, She bears so many symbols because of all this. I suppose you COULD say it's Universal, but more to bear Heaven as Universal. Heaven is whatever you wish for. A better place where everything is good and just, essentially... so by whatever name your religion gives it's afterlife... you all wish for the same things. Jehoel was the 'Angel of Presence'. All of the religions have a spiritual presence that governs life, and the way I figure it... If you live a good life, as good as you can, and bearing to your personal morals and view of just and righteousness... You'll get to whatever it is you seek after life. Regardless of your religion, or beliefs.

Annnnnd yeah. She sums that all up for me. Though obviously, it'd be easier if I could write that explanation all over her body.

Ah, s'true. Lol. Got to the pentacle and was like 'I think I might be overdoing it now' Lol. It's mainly just that I'm... incredibly religious, but in my own way. I LOVE seeing other cultures, though I'm christian. I'm really open minded... and I HATE organized religion for the most part... because in my mind, we were given the ability to think for ourselves... so I feel there has to be a reason for that, and as such... I don't need to go to church to be told what to believe, and I dislike the mindless drone outlook a lot of people now take on religion. So. She's got it all, because I think everyone should have an open mind to everyone else.
