Belle was trying to sleep but couldn’t. She kept thinking about how she should’ve kissed Ariel. Oh how much she wanted to. She tossed and turned until she finally got up and walked out the door to stop in front of Ariel’s.

She was about to knock when she heard something, something very familiar. It was a voice from the distance but not just any voice, the voice. The one she was looking for! Belle quickly got dressed, grabbed her cape and ran to the shore.

Gaston was waiting outside around the cottage. Once he saw her leave out of sight, he walked into the cottage and up the stairs. He knocked on Ariel’s door.

The knock startled her but she thought it was Belle and quickly rose to her feet. She opened the door with a smile but it quickly disappeared when she saw Gaston instead.

“Sorry to wake you but Belle wanted me to tell you something. I was here earlier when you were in your room and Belle was in the kitchen for a cup of water. I told her how much I loved her and she admitted her feelings for me.”

Ariel’s eyes grew big and she shook her head.

“Yes, she’s in love with me, just like I’m in love with her. She’s actually crazy for me but who can blame her?”

Ariel turns around and begins to cry.

“She’s out with the girls making a wedding dress and wanted me to tell you to leave. I mean, we’ll be married in the morning and you can’t stay here with us. We’ll be on our honeymoon. She said she was sorry but… girl on girl love isn’t her thing.”

He smiles as he watched Ariel’s shoulders shake.

“I told you she’d be my wife.”

He laughs and walks out.

Unable to believe it, Ariel runs to Belle’s room to see she is gone. Ariel’s heart deflates like a balloon as she falls to her knees, crying with no voice to call out her name. The pain grows stronger and stronger until she can hardly breathe.

She crawls to her room, painfully gets dressed and walks down the stairs. She looks back, remembering all those precious moments then turns to the door and walks out. Her head is down as she runs to the shore unknowingly as Gaston follows her.

Belle followed the voice to shore and found a beautiful woman.

“Who are you?”

The woman is silent for a moment, “I’m the one. The one who saved you.”

Belle couldn’t believe it, there was something in her eyes that made her doubt it.

“Well, where have you been?” Belle asked.

“Waiting for you. I love you, I need you… please, come to me. Come closer… please?”

Belle hesitates and if it weren’t for her voice, she wouldn’t take another step.

“Yes, that’s it. Closer…”

She takes another step as the woman reaches out her hand. Belle takes it and suddenly the woman’s beauty vanishes and Ursula’s hideous body takes her place.

She grabs Belle and holds her out in front of her.

“You stupid, stupid girl! If you weren’t so obsessed with this voice,” then with the snap of her finger Ariel’s voice is replaced with hers, “Your mermaid wouldn’t be walking into a trap!”

Trying to break free, Belle shakes and jolts.

“What mermaid?!”
“Oh come on, hazel eyes! Ariel! Don’t tell me you didn’t know she was a mermaid! Her first day here was a big clue! You never wondered where she came from?! What you thought she fell out of the sky?!”

Belle pauses as the realization flows through her.

“The moment she laid eyes on you, she wanted to be with you forever. So you know what the little fish did?! She traded her voice for legs and for what? A lifetime of human heartbreak?!”

Belle tries to break free and Ursula’s words start to make sense.

“She only had three days,” Ursula continues. “If she couldn’t get you to fall in love with her and kiss her by the third day, she’d turn back into a mermaid and give me her soul!”

At that moment, the sun was about to rise to a gray sky.

“And look! Day three is here and you, beautiful, aren’t going no where!”

Then Ursula’s eyes turn red.

Sebastian and Flounder were swimming near by when they saw Ursula about to take Belle into the ocean. They immediately went to help.

Sebastian cut and pinched Ursula as Flounder bit and tugged at her tentacles.

“Ow! Ouch!”

Belle breaks free and grabs a large wooden stick left over from a shipwreck, raises it up and swings it, hitting Ursula in the head. She passes out from the pain and falls onto a rock but it’s only a matter of time till she wakes up into consciousness.

“Belle!” Sebastian screams.

She turns to see the crab calling her name.

“You- you can talk?”

“Of course, but never mind! We got to get you and Ariel out of here before she wakes up!!!”

“Oh no! ARIEL!!!”

She remembers and begins to run back to the village.

“Wait! Wait for me!”

She stops turns to Sebastian, picks him up and puts him in her pocket.

Flounder pops his head out of the water, “What about me?”

“Tell the sea king what’s going on, we’re going to need all the help we can get,” Sebastian replies and Flounder quickly swims off.

Belle runs to the village with Sebastian in her pocket. He covers his mouth, trying hard not to vomit.

Ariel reached a different end of the shore and fell to her knees. The sun has almost completely risen to a cloudy sky and she’s never felt so heart broken before in her life.

Her eyes are swollen from crying as she tries to keep herself together. She needs Sebastian. She needs Flounder. Where are her friends?

Just at that moment Gaston throws a net over her and laughs.

“This is familiar! You look like… a fish out of water!” He laughs hysterically.

Scuttle flies by seeing Ariel in the net. He panics and flies higher to get a bigger view of the land. He spots Belle running to the village and he soars after her! He tries to speak but all she hears is a seagull’s crow.

Sebastian on the other hand recognizes it.

“Stop,” he tells Belle and she does.

“What is it man,” Sebastian asks Scuttle.

“Ariel! She’s- she’s at the shore! A human- a man has her in a net!”

Belle is surprised she can understand him but her focus is on Ariel.

“Take me to her!” She tells Scuttle and he flies in Ariel’s direction with Belle right behind him.

Ariel tries to break free, pulling at the net. She wishes she could scream but she can’t and starts crying.

“What thirsty?” Gaston asks.

“How about some,” he lifts his legs up, “SEA WATER,” he kicks her hip, forcing her into the shore and drags the net back to land.

Terrified and in pain, she holds her hip but notices the blood of the scratches from where he dragged her.

He laughs at the sight, “What’s the matter, Ariel? Too much of a human to fight back?!” He laughs.

Just then Belle reaches the shore, “NO!”she screams and tries to her best to hurry to Ariel.

Ariel turns her head to see Belle, her heart rises as hope fills her eyes.

Gaston grabs his gun and aims it at Ariel.

“NO, GASTON! DON’T,” Belle shrieks!

He aims and just when he’s about to pull the trigger the gun is forced out of his hands and onto the sand, breaking into pieces. It’s King Triton!

His powers shot through his trident, knocking the gun out of Gaston’s hands and breaking it. Gaston turns to the sea king and cringes.

Sebastian jumps out of Belle’s pocket and on the sand, running to Ariel’s aid. Suddenly Ursula jumps out of the waters wrapping her tentacles around the King. His trident shoots breaking the shell that holds Ariel’s voice as they sink into the ocean.

A glowing mist descends from the broken shell and flows to Ariel, an echoing voice fills the air. Belle stops in amazement as the mist flows to Ariel’s throat where she takes a deep breath and speaks for the first time as a human.

“Belle!” Ariel yells.

Belle runs to her.

Witnessing this, Gaston elbows Belle, knocking her out onto the sand.

“BELLE!” Ariel screams but luckily Sebastian was still there.

He crawled to Ariel’s net and hid behind her as he started to cut away.

Gaston laughs then her turns to Ariel, “Were you in love with her, Ariel? Did you honestly think she’d want you when she had someone like me?!”

In the world above, the clouds grow dark as a storm begins. Under the sea, however was enough energy to cause a storm itself as Ursula and the King were fighting.

“LOOK! HAHA! Good ol’ daddy is here to save his baby girl! But you can’t save her this time! She signed a contract!”

With the snap of her fingers, the scroll appears as she shows it to the King. He tries to destroy it with his trident but it doesn’t break.

“You see? The contract’s legal! Binding and completely unbreakable! Even for you! Whatever happens to her, is out of your control unless Belle can break the spell!”

Back on shore Gaston’s rage was growing.

“You’re a FEMALE! And not just any female, A MERMAID!!!”

At that moment Belle woke up with a slight aching pain in her forehead but the sight of Gaston leaning closer to Ariel was enough to make her ignore it. He leaned in closer and pulled out a knife.

“NOOOO!” Belle tackles him hitting him in the face.

“Arrghhh!”

His knife drops out of his hand as he grabs Belle’s arms. Sebastian had cut a big enough hole for Ariel and she quickly jumped out, ran to Belle’s aid, punching Gaston in the stomach. He grunted then swung at Ariel but she ducked in time and kicked him in the groin.

“AAAAAAARRRRRRRGHGHHHH!” He cries in pain, falling to the ground.

Belle runs into Ariel’s arms, “It was you the whole time!”

Ariel places her hand upon Belle’s cheek, “Oh Belle, I wanted to tell you but I-“

“I know, I know what you did.”

Gaston lifts his head up and reaches for his knife.

“Belle, I, I love- AAAGGGHHH!”

Gaston stabs Ariel in the back.

“NNNNOOOO!!!!!” Belle screams as she holds Ariel in her arms.

Sebastian jumps away from the net, trying to think of something to do to help.

Lightening strikes and Belle’s scream is heard even under the ocean. The King hears her.

“YOU’RE TOO LATE!” Ursula rants as King Triton strikes her then swims to the surface.

“ARIEL,” he screams, using the powers of his trident to grab Gaston into the sea.

Gaston tries his best to keep his head above the water but he can’t swim. King Triton’s focus isn’t on him, however, so he sets him loose and swims to the shore.

Gaston tries so hard to swim, using every muscle in his body to help keep him afloat.

Ursula passes by, “So long, lover boy!”

And she leaves him to drown.

Ariel lies in Belle’s arms when the King reaches as close as he can to the shore.

“Ariel?” He says.

His eyes grow sad then Ursula reaches the surface.

“You know, she can still be saved. I was thinking of using her soul as decoration but I’m willing to make an exchange for someone even better, after all, she’s no use to me dead.”

With the snap of her fingers the scroll appears in her hand once more.

“Which would you rather be? A king? Or a father to his little girl?” She asks him.

Without another thought, he signs the contract.

“Daddy,” Ariel screams as her wound heals in thin air and her legs form back into a fin, she reaches out her hand for him.

He reaches out for her but sinks to the bottom of the ocean as Ursula grabs his trident, “AT LAST! THE OCEAN BELONGS TO ME!”

Belle lays Ariel gently on the sand and grabs the knife that Gaston used to stab her and runs behind a boulder.

Ursula turns to Ariel, “AND NOW YOU POOR UNFORTUNATE SOUL! TIME’S UP, YOU’RE THROUGH! NOW THE POWER OF POSEIDON HAS BEEN ONCE AGAIN MADE WHOLE! ALL THE MAGIC OF THE TRIDENT AND THE OCEAN IN MY CONTROL!”

She lifts the trident in the air waving it around as lighting strikes and winds blow violently. Waves roll ruthlessly as Belle tries to climb atop the boulder.

“AND NOW DARK SHALL REIGN FOREVER OVER OCEAN, SEA AND SHORE,” Ursula continues to Ariel. “Now see for yourself how it feels to be a human! YOU POOR UNFORTUNATE SOUL!!!!!”

She aims the trident at her to finish her off. Belle reaches the top of the boulder, jumps on Ursula’s back and stabs her over and over until she falls off.

“NOOOOOO!!!!” Ursula gasps for air as she sinks into the ocean.

Underwater, Belle tries her best to swim to the surface but the suction pulls her deeper.

Flounder, an excellent swimmer, swims to Belle’s aid.

“HOLD ON TO ME!” She does as he pulls her to the surface where she swims to shore.

Belle reaches Ariel and holds her in her arms and looks at her mermaid fins.

“You came for me,” Ariel says.

“Of course I came for you. I couldn’t let him…” Belle replies, “Oh, this is all my fault! If only I had gotten here sooner,” she hugs Ariel close and tightly in her arms.

“Maybe it’s better this way,” Ariel says.

Belle lifts her head and looks her in the eye, “Don’t talk like that! We’ll be alright,” she smiles trying to hold back the tears, “We’re together now, everything’s going to be fine, you’ll see.”

Ariel holds Belle’s face in her hands, “At least I got to be with you, one last time,” Ariel replies with tears filling her eyes.

The shore reaches Ariel and begins take her away to the sea.

“No!” Belle says as she holds on to Ariel’s hands.

“Please! Please don’t leave me…” They both hold on for dear life but the waters are too strong and forces them to part as Belle watches Ariel disappear into the ocean, “I love you.”

The skies and the oceans calm as the world grows silent. Belle’s hands cover her face as she drops her head and cries. How she wished things could be different.

“HOLD ON TO ME!” She does as he pulls her to the surface where she swims to shore.

Belle reaches Ariel and holds her in her arms and looks at her mermaid fins.

“You came for me,” Ariel says.

“Of course I came for you. I couldn’t let him…” Belle replies, “Oh, this is all my fault! If only I had gotten here sooner,” she hugs Ariel close and tightly in her arms.

“Maybe it’s better this way,” Ariel says.

Belle lifts her head and looks her in the eye, “Don’t talk like that! We’ll be alright,” she smiles trying to hold back the tears, “We’re together now, everything’s going to be fine, you’ll see.”

Ariel holds Belle’s face in her hands, “At least I got to be with you, one last time,” Ariel replies with tears filling her eyes.

The shore reaches Ariel and begins take her away to the sea.

“No!” Belle says as she holds on to Ariel’s hands.

“Please! Please don’t leave me…” They both hold on for dear life but the waters are too strong and forces them to part as Belle watches Ariel disappear into the ocean, “I love you.”

The skies and the oceans calm as the world grows silent. Belle’s hands cover her face as she drops her head and cries. How she wished things could be different.
