Fic set right before G.R.A.D.U.A.T.E.S.

Father was busy making minor alterations to the Kids Next Door C.O.D.E. M.O.D.U.L.E. while his Delightful Children watched. But then, a man in uniform strode right into the living room.

"Father, we have an unwanted guest.."

Father looked up from his work and his eyebrow set angrily on his brow.

"What?! How'd the police just waltz right in my living room?!" Father was about to kick the little boy blue right out when he noticed the eyes. "Huh? Mind control...that could only be..." Father looked over at the Delightful Children. "Delightful Children, go find out what old Spanky wants."

"Yes, Father...but where shall we find that vampire?"

"If he mind-controlled this police guy, that means he's in prison. Again. Go convince him or whatever you did last time. And when you're done with that, I'm going to give the KND C.O.D.E. M.O.D.U.L.E., which I'm almost done altering, to you. Make sure that the brats retrieve it from you."

"Yes, Father."

The Delightful Children took one of their many complex machines and once again arrived outside Count Spankulot's cell. He was not in a striped uniform this time, but instead was wearing a prison number plate in the place of his medallion. Budget cuts were a likely explanation.

"Oh Delightful Children, again you are here!!"

"Aren't you going to escape?"

"But---de rules..!!"

"We have a confession to you, Count. We don't actually play by the rules."

"...You...you...don't play by de rules..?!!!"

"Sometimes it is not expedient to follow the rules. Surely you have learned this by now. Would you still be in prison if you simply broke away from the police when they caught you? Sooner or later, you will have to save yourself. We will save you one more time, and then after that it's off to bed for us---"

"WAIT!!" commanded Spankulot. "You are right, Delightful Childrens. I wanted to believe dat de Evil Adults Industries is following de rules by punishing de childrens, but I was suspicious dat some of de things dat Father, Mr. Boss, De Great Puttinsky, Knightbrace, Stickybeard, Mr. Fizz, and many of de uder villains do on a regular basis breaks de law. So I flew to de library---and read de publishings of journalists on de news off de town, and read de criminal records, and to my great disappointment, everyone in de Evil Adult Industries is breaking de rules somehow! Even you, Delightful Childrens, break de rules!"

The Delightful Children's pale blue/blue-green eyes widened with surprise at the accusation. "So...I must summon all of my strengt' to escape de prison without any help, for whatever I do it will break de rules! So...leave me."

"Are you sure, Count..?"

"Leave me NOW!!!" the Delightful Children grew terrified at the storm cloud that materialized above them.

"Very well. We take our leave of you. Goodnight," said the Delightful Children, setting a course for home. They had a very big day tomorrow, and could not wait to lure the Kids Next Door to their doom.
