how do you get the shading on the face to look so smooth?

I guess its mostly to do with the paper I use. I use very soft, almost shiny paper so when I smudge it makes the shading looks soft almost shiny
try drawing with softer paper

oooh, quite a while, cant realy say, but drawing it then colouring it then adding details then lining it after... not mention on this one i had the person to do as well.
the most time consuming of all my styles definatly
