Light and Darkness. Creation and Destruction. Birth and Death.

These are the powers that the two Gods exercised on the Mortal World, before being both shattered in four fragments each long ago, along with the world itself.

But even then, the dormant fragments had enough power left to unconsciously keep the respective dimensions in balance.

However, one day, something abnormal happened.

The fragments started hopping between the dimensions, and eventually met the other ones.

It was that time, the Gods awoke.

The world narrowly survived the event, but the fragments learned to control their powers, and swore to never use them, or let them take them over, never again.

Several years later, another abnormal event happened.

The fragments gave birth to children. Those offsprings contain inside themselves the powers of both Gods spliced together, potentially making them even more dangerous than their parents should they awaken. Fortunately, it appears than the contrast between the two powers balances them, causing an awakening to be more difficult to trigger. But to be sure that it never happens, the fragments asked help to the mortal Akaba Reiji in order to discover how to reliably prevent the eventuality.

Still, no one really knows the true extent of the children's dangerous potential, so for now everyone can only pray that they never know that.
