He often lay awake in bed at night, playing scenes over in his head, both historical and fantastical. His history was a twisted one, full of pain, torment and suffering; the humiliation, the degradation that his oppressors showered upon him every day of his life.

By contrast, his fantasies were full of violent splendor, in which he tormented the tormentor and made the executioner suffer. He always towered in his fantasies; a strong, valiant warrior who stood undefeated no matter what life threw at him.

But those fantasies never came real. No matter how many times he prayed at night to whatever God would listen.

Fists got him nowhere, and words only worsened the torment through a verbose show of intelligence and faux machoism.

The Gods were useless, and he knew what he had to do.

His suffering had gone on long enough, and desperate times called for desperate measures.

Time to reap vengeance. Give back one final tit for over a decade of tat.

He slid the semi-automatic in the waistband of his college slacks, adjusted his blazer accordingly, and boarded the school bus.
