In the vampire story Daniel has a rare disease that, among other things, makes it hard for him to control himself when he is drinking blood and he doesn't always realize just how much blood he is drinking. And as vampires have poison in their fangs to make their victim dazed, poor Rowan can't even really tell Daniel he is going overboard :' (

He usually is very super careful with Rowan but like sometimes accidents happen no matter how hard they try to control the situation. Aside from that though they are a really healthy pair like honestly no matter the AU I think their mutual communication is the strongest and most mature
