Description “At long last…..my full power has been reached. Yes….. I have been looking forward to this day…FOR TOO LONG!!!!!” - Soul Edge in triumph seconds before becoming Night Terror

Ergh... The power of the PS2 sure does suck in comparison to the PS3. And I even had it set to Progressive Scan.

Due to 's copyright policies, I am putting this one in my scraps since it's a snapshot.

Once again, Night Terror and Soul Edge are copyright Namco

But anyway, on with the bio.

The evil sword known as Soul Edge was known as a weapon of terrifying power, but none could ever truly grasp its wicked potential. Should Soul Edge ever devour enough souls and reach maximum power, or merge with its former half Soul Calibur after their power had grown over the eons, a detestable new power would be obtained that would even surpass the apparition known as Inferno. Fortunately, Soul Edge was never able to acquire the power it needed as it was defeated and shattered by many powerful warriors throughout time, causing it to lose a vast majority of its strength every time and forcing it to start again. But this all took a sudden turn for the worst when Soul Edge made its way to the Kingdom of Rohta.

Having been stolen and given a new body to manipulate by an unnamed cult in the Far East, Soul Edge was promised a sacrifice that would likely allow it to reach its maximum potential. During the wait, Soul Edge returned to Rohta and wandered the countryside while keeping a low profile. But as it pondered its countless failures, Soul Edge discovered that the souls of the living lose a great deal of their quality when they feel pain and are killed. This time and again caused Soul Edge to fail in its quest for perfection as it took too long to acquire the power it needed. To remedy this, it somehow developed a method of extracting the souls of the living from their still-living bodies without harming them, keeping their luster intact. This caused Soul Edge to increase its power by leaps and bounds. By devouring the souls of the living without weakening them, Soul Edge could acquire the same amount of power from ten healthy souls as from 10,000 traumatized souls forcefully removed from their bodies by a painful death. But when the sacrifice it was promised was destroyed before it could return to claim it, Soul Edge set its sights on a knight known as Ashton Redford Crimson and the power of the Eternal Flame that resided within his soul after increasing its power by summoning and reuniting with the numerous fragments of itself that had been scattered across the globe after its previous defeat.

When Soul Edge extracted a mere fraction of Ashton's soul after impaling the knight on itself, it reached maximum power and its form took on the appearance of a monster that up until then had only existed in prophecy and dark lore. The unholy abomination referred to as Night Terror. The beast was larger and much stronger than even its previous form known as the Azure Knight. And the form of Soul Edge became a living sword with its center lined with jagged fangs complete with a long gaping mouth that could open and tear apart its prey before feasting upon it, but could still function as a sword while keeping its jaws clamped shut.

While Soul Edge was capable of speech and cunning attacks while below 90% maximum capacity, it became a being of pure destructive will after reaching its maximum power. Night Terror was only capable of growls and roars like a mindless beast and attacked in a very wild and unpredictable fashion and was not able to think logically. But its lack of intelligence was only a minor handicap as it was seemingly invincible to most attacks. Even the strongest attacks could do little more than stun it and its wounds seemed to heal quickly. Not even the spirit sword herself could hope to stand against Night Terror on its own.

Night Terror's evil presence radiated all across the world and plunged the planet into a perpetual night when Soul Edge reached its true potential. Along with Soul Edge as a weapon, Night Terror had unsurpassed physical strength that could topple a fortress using brute strength alone. It also had access to the abilities and skills of the Azure Knight, albeit on a much higher level of destructive power. But it was also capable of flight using its wings of flames and could reach surprisingly high speeds despite its bulky form. The power of flight also allowed for a entirely new array of attacks that Soul Edge could not have even hoped to perform before reaching its maximum potential.

Although it may have been possible that Soul Edge could still devour souls after becoming Night Terror, it will never be known as it never had the chance to kill anyone after reaching its ultimate state. Using the power of Soul Calibur, the Eternal Flame, and his absurdly powerful Aura, Ashton was able to bring an end to Soul Edge once and for all. While Night Terror was indeed Soul Edge at its most powerful, it was also its most vulnerable form. Its massive power came at the cost of its ability to escape permanent death. When Ashton destroyed Night Terror, the souls that had been consumed by Soul Edge since ancient times were finally released. And from that moment onward, the Sword of Ruin, the demonic sword Soul Edge, vanished from the world forever.

I didn't play much Soul Calibur except for the second one that was made for Gamecube.(And you can probably guess that I loved the fact that Link was in Soul Calibur 2!)
