I can't think of a better "tutorial" character other than maybe Toriel from Undertale. Someone who is extremely caring, but also strong individually. You can respect her because she has already walked through the valley of the shadow of death in her life, without fearing evil. She was willing to lose everything of this world, just to do what was right and hopefully find a peaceful resolution. Even at the end she still believed she might be able to stop her father from committing the atrocious act. She was extremely helpful to the player and not near as impatient as. . . Navi from Ocarina of Time, LOL. Even with all that, she shows sympathy to every character no matter what they've done. Even Chaos who destroyed the people who raised her, and she's the one who inspires Gamma to protect the innocent, starting him on that path that Amy also contributed too. She, like Maria is looking for the ultimate redemption for each of us, and is praying for every person to find their way. . . home.
With that in mind, how she pays the ultimate price and still judges Chaos no less for it. . . she shows an incredible level of compassion and wisdom in the game to everyone. She did take her grandmother's place as the next priest I believe, and the evidence of that, is her ability to guide all the other characters as a spirit during the events of SA1. I now have to wonder if she is the one who mobians will one day see when they "ascend" to Heaven. . . if that's where they are going. (I should like to look into Mayan ideas of the afterlife and see if there's anything to gain from that. Whatever the theology is in Sonic it seams to borrow from a lot of different ideas in real life.)
I imagine Tikal is proud of Chaos. . . and proud of everyone else who lived a full life, and made it to this point on the righteous side of the final judgement.
This picture is really heartfelt. It does a wonderful job of capturing the epitome of her long journey and what she wants. I wish we got a lot more from her as I do a lot of the Sonic characters (especially Knuckles.)

I agree. Her story is so helpless, but inspirating at the same time. She is a really nice girl with a very good heart. I also think she's proud of Chaos.
I wish I could see more about her in futures Sonic games or animations Β

There are some rough edges, and I feel the skirt looks a bit big on Tikal. However, aside from those minor complaints, I think you did a phenomenal job portraying this lovely echidna.
