I'm still in Athens, but we've got some spare time, so I'm trying to submit a couple before I leave, but I definitely wanted to put this one on here because it's one of my absolute favorite pictures from this week, but also that I've ever shot, at least as far as portraits go. The girl in the foreground is Lauren ( ~righteousbabe ), my photo-muse from the week, and next to her in the white is the other (but still cool) Lauren. I took this the other night on a UGA bus after bowling night... it was around 10:30 or 11, so it was dark outside, but the inside of the bus was lit (obviously), but I sort of just shot this one at random because Lauren and Jeff (I think) off camera were having an entertaining conversation. I didn't realize how great the lighting was until I got the negatives back and scanned this one in... I like the depth of field, how the emphasis is clearly on Lauren in the foreground, but you can still see the other people, but keeping the emphasis on her. The other thing that I love is her expression.. I forget who she was talking to off frame, but she had this wonderful expression the whole time. I could keep rambling on about how I love the lighting and the background and stuff, but I guess I'll stop... just know that I absolutely love this one... new featured deviation I think!

I just went back to featuring this one... I've been wanting to get back into portraiture recently, and this is one of my favorites I've got around here. I just went in today and got rid of a pesky white light in the background that really drew too much attention. I also tweaked the levels a bit more (like I haven't already dont that enough to this one), but I think I got it just about where I liked it. Before, the shot was a bit too green from the flourescent lighting, so I added some reds and a slight bit of yellow to give it a more natural feel. I think I've finally got this shot right where I like it.

so i got rid of the third girl in the background. no one said anything about her but to get rid of her... she didn't do anything for the photo, plus the girl in real life never liked my work, so she shouldn't deserve to be part of one of my favorite shots. i also cleaned it up in a couple minute spots. please, god, let me be done with it now... i've been coming back to this shot off and on for the past 10 months or so, something i've never done with any other shot. i'll leave it at this final form for now.
