Description
A pet graphic and design for the online game Rescreatu.comThe Zaphao has always been one of my favorite pets in this game, even before I had the pleasure to work on it. Due to it's popularity the zaphao revamp got a lot of mixed reactions. While many players love it, others were unhappy with the direction I choose. I had seen in the original design (ghosted in middle) a creature from the Mustelidae family; similar to a wolverine. I therefor redrew it to be stocky and muscular. Going with this direction gives the site more variety in their selection of creatures. (not everything can be a wolf, after all!)
My colleague had a very different design concept!

*blinks* Thought these were the originals too. Res must have been around for a looong time. I really like the old baby and adolescent, because their style is cute, but your revamp very much suits them

i really like the old version better.. cause the new one looks kinda fat, but i really like the sketches of the teen revamp though!

Zaphao is kind of fat.
Verity is important; not all pet designs can be lean canid based critters.
A strong, bulky build for this pet was a very intentional choice.

One thing I liked better about the original was that the lightning rods and the horns(?) on it's head were sharper. Like spikes. Your design softened the look a lot.

Heh, I don't remember seeing that baby sketch up there. It's pretty cute and I like the personality. It makes me think of something squirrely. Anyways, now that I've found you I shall watch you. :3

That's because it was never scanned!
It was actually quite a hassle to track down and get a digital version of. And then when I got it I realized it was pretty much the teen pose. Sigh.

Honestly, I prefer the baby stetch in the background to the baby right now. But, never the less, you art talents never cease to amaze me, I just can't wait until your next creatu ;D

I really liked that pose as well, but it was too similar to the teen pose so I could not go with it.
