It's a good setting, but when I came to him with a plot, he didn't take criticism well at aaaaaallll.

The capital of Egypt, in the ancient days, would have been Memphis. It's about 15 miles from Cairo, the capital of modern Egypt.
And if she's the princess, I get the feeling her father looks a whole lot like Ra: stargate.wikia.com/wiki/Ra

Still probably wouldn't be the nicest person. Thousands of years of the pharaohs believing themselves to be gods in mortal form and all that.
To say nothing of the fact that the Americans are probably just as low as the Hebrews were in the old days. See, it's not just my Stargate savvy that has me thinking a world where the pharaohs are a high tech power would be a rather rough one to live in.

Remember, the wonder and splendor of ancient Egypt was built on the scorched, bloodied backs of enslaved Jews. If the ways of the pharaohs were transplanted to a modern culture, the same would be true of any other native races they conquered in their expansion. Americans, Aboriginals, Celts, Slavs, Assyrians, it's hard to tell because a world where Egypt fell would have almost no familiar nations for reference. Outside of Memphis and your princess' idyllic life, it's gotta be pretty dystopic out there.

I think they don't need human slaves anymore here. This is just something for fun. I didn't say any of that stuff because it doesn't exist here. The Egyptains weren't all bad.

That'd be hard to tell. Egypt conquering however much they've conquered in your alternate history would probably mean that a lot of inventors and scientists we know of would probably die or never be born, leading them to progress in very different ways. There sure as heck wouldn't be an Abraham Lincoln in this world's history, nor probably a Mohandas Gandhi, or many of the other people who've spoken out against colonialism and slavery.
Actually, try going with that. Instead of saying that the bad side of Egypt doesn't exist, say it doesn't seem to exist because Jez is unaware of most of it, having lived most of her life in the palace, away from the troubles of her people.

I'm sorry, it's just... the pharaohs inspire this sort of thought. Especially if they've somehow conquered the world. Ignoring it would do a disservice to any narratives you have planned for this world.

They didn't conquere it. Other ancient civilizations have also advanced alongside them, Aztecs (minus the bloody sacrifice), Greeks, Feudal Japan, etc.

Well, if it's these other ancient civilizations, I think I know how it would go:
The Aztecs and Egyptians would be constantly aiming to wipe Memphis and Tenochtitlan off the face of the Earth. You get two of the most conquest-happy empires in history, minus Rome of course, with the Aztecs being even more violent than the Egyptians, and they're gonna fight a lot.
The Greek City-States would have split the Europe-Asia area down the middle and squabble over the borders of their domains when not battling other enemies. Athenians would have some degree of freedom and perhaps dignity, while those under Sparta would be crushed under their fascistic rule.
Japan would remain highly isolated and probably far more technologically advanced than any other nation there. They've probably got all of East Asia under their command, and they discriminate heavily against non-Japanese.
And I don't think you can HAVE Aztecs without sacrifice. Assuming these states still follow the traditional religions, an empire outside of Mexico would give the Aztecs enough sacrificial subjects that they'd never run out of favor with their gods.

I have actually thought on certain points of civilizations, gauging on how the world works and I kind of have something there. But, this world is half full unfortunately.

My idea was that this princess does the whole "slip out of the palace and see the world" thing, only to see firsthand the suffering the pharaoh's reign brings to those who aren't in the nobility, priesthood, or military. Because outside of electricity and flying cars, I doubt things would change very much, if at all.

Well, the main point of the Neo Egypt Reality is that its a Present Day Version of Luke's idealized Ancient Egypt. In terms of the Point of Divergence, Queen Aziza decided to seek out a new land to colonize and expand upon that was away from other "barbaric" civilizations so that her civilization would survive and thrive without having to over rely on the Primes (or Gods in her case).
She did meet with her friends, which were rulers of other kingdoms, and went with Kamea and Altaira to see the rest of the land that Altaira had (the north part). She decided to go with that land, and you can make a guess on what happened next in that case.
What they never knew was the truth on things, that there were things beyond even the Primes... and that's something that Luke doesn't know.

Yeah, but they're all very imperialistic factions. I know Sparta wouldn't embrace democracy unless Athens finally crushed them, for one. It's more interesting this way, more realistic, gives the setting a sense of things happening.

The fun is in exploring how various people from the strata that would exist in such a world would get through their lives, and what happens if they were to suddenly run into each other.

These aren't the sorts of civilizations that should be idealized, though. All of them except medieval Japan were violent and brutal, otherwise they wouldn't be empires.
