BASIC DRAWING I Homework - Draw any object of your choice and draw it in as lifelike a way as possible. Make value the primary factor. Draw with graphite pencils and/or sticks.I LOVE how this gem came out. 'Tis me pride 'n joy!
Took about 4 1/2 hours to complete and was far more difficult to draw than anything I've ever done in my life (at least up to this point). It really took a lot of patience to do this one. I still see a few places where it could be tweaked, but then again, it wasn't a 100% symetrical jewel. *rolls eyes* Mass-produced items.
I only draw what I see. This one came out to be an A+!

Thanks! I'm actually going to do this again for another drawing project, only this time I'll be using charcoal, and there will be more to the background than just blank space. I'll post that as soon as it's completed (for sure by Tuesday).

Thanks, the shading was difficult in the way that I was already tired from the tediousness of drawing the rest of the gemstone, and it was tempting to just scribble the rest of the shading in. It pays off to do a good job though!
