I think that DA provides a context in which this is inevitably placed and as such confusions of the above sort serve to illustrate the importance of context when considering art. The viewer has context (as the above troll indicates) but so too does the artist, and as the viewer's implicit and unquestioned assumptions may alter their perceptions of the piece so too can those of the artist and its creation. If it is our aim to investigate artistic intent as relevant to the work then perhaps it is these to which we should aslo pay close attention, not merely the work itself.

is this like a modern adaptation or something? she doesn't really look like xena at all. most artist at least include the chakram or something. I give this a C+ barely, only because of the quality of the photo itself, but an F on canonical quality. Ugh.
