Description Kirin are benevolent creatures from Japanese and Chinese mythology that are a mix of a dragon, deer and unicorn. The Chinese term is qilin. They're usually brightly colored, but I wanted to do something different and went for a dark sort of kirin. I based his design off of Sika deer, which are a species native to Japan that keep their spots throughout adulthood and of course, eastern dragons, which often have whiskers like catfish and lion or horse manes, which is why he has a mane. Though his hooves are covered by his unicorn-like feathering, I imagine them to be gold like his antlers and the two horns on his muzzle. His black, silver, white and gold color scheme along with his spots against his black scales, are why I refer to him as a "starry night" kirin. Kirin are also said to breathe fire... I like to imagine that he breathes light blue fire. Done in pencils/colored pencils. Art and design are by me. Do not use.
