Description
this is the archaeopteryx, perhaps the most controversial fossil ever..it lived in the jurassic period, 150 million years ago
its name means "ancient wing"
the first one was found two years after the publication of darwin's 'on the origin of species'
and has both been taken as a crucial piece of supporting evidence,
and rejected as a fake
(though there are 8 different fossils from different places)
this one is the berlin specimen, found in 1877
i stencilled it mid 2003
like it, we are, in the city, encased in stone
perhaps we are fossils as well
a fallen griffin
a frozen dragon
a petrified angel

I notice someone else already said it but I was wondering how you would stand if I said can I use it as a tattoo? Because I understand how hard it is to credit someone with a tattoo...

nice analogy/prose, and i had no idea about the debate.
i also have no idea about stencils, aside from how to make them.
so i can't say much on the technical or execution aspects.
looks crisp enough for me to identify what it is, and for that i love it.

Any chance you have the file saved? I'm interested in this as a tattoo to compliment a Japanese ink style tattoo, and really like the flavor it has. Looking for something that is parallel, but not necessarily the exact same style and this is very poignant
