The reason he carries a pistol in the game is because that is not his original body.
After shutting himself down to get rid of the Wiley virus, Dr Weil stole his body while research was being done on it and made it into Omega.
The Zero you play in the game is a body that Ceil made and downloaded Zero's personality into.
This was a long time before she made Copy X so I assume she couldn't figure out how to emulate the Buster change.

Actually Zero is in Omegas body. Weil swapped them. Ciel just made Copy not Zero's new body.

You are correct in saying the Zero's current body was not made by Ceil, I think it was Ceil's mother (I'm sure that's what I read).
Either way, the Zero you play is Zero's personality in a copied body.

Ciel made Copy X. But found Zero while Zero was in Omega's body. In the game Ciels mother is never mentioned far as I can recall.

i like it...looks more...i dont know like it has an armor, instead of the cloth-like that he wears. and i agree with the buster is more like a megaman android should be, but i like him more in red xD. sorry for my english i am spanish xD
