Um, I mostly do huge complicated props or tedious sewing. What's weird is the props are easy for me...I really enjoy making them. ;w; I dunno if you've seen the Crusnik scythe in my gallery but stuff like that. But I would be more than happy to teach you the ways. >w< It mostly involves living in craft stores & being so resourceful it's creepy. Like. Really creepy. Name a non-perishable object & it's probably been sacrificed for The Cause.

Well, I know of ONE con in Pittsburgh...I'm sure there are more, but there's a huge one each April called Tekkoshocon. I've never been but it's supposed to be huge. I don't know if you would like a huge con as your first con since you don't seeeeeem too into anime or videogames, but it's your choice. I prefer bigger ones because the cosplay is more professional so I'm actually impressed with it, & there's more to buy & do. Every year I buy contacts. <3
I also normally wouldn't recommend cosplaying your virgin con but I think you could handle it. At least the costume making part you could definitely handle. Just make sure you can handle people calling you by that character's name & glomping & stuff...& people staying in character when they interact with you. You don't need to feel pressured to be in character, but most people will be & will treat you that way. Ah, con etiquette! So much to teach you! XD

I would love to crash Starbucks in troll form. Shock factor = my favorite tool in human interaction. I'd definitely be really nervous about it at first, but after I went in there and did my thing I'd get really into it haha I can imagine it now...it's beautiful; all the normal people staring, the guys on their mac books getting pissed off, and the barristas being terribly confused. Yes yes yes.

I have a beautiful, super-expensive ridiculously advanced one that is BASICALLY A COMPUTER but all sewing machines freak me out because- okay it's stupid. But when you use them, you know how they pull the fabric towards them & it feels like they're eating it? That's what freaks me out. T-T
Your best friends: hot glue guns, Model Magic, spraypaint & PVC pipe. A twelve-foot length of PVC is, like, sixty cents at a hardware store, which for me (since I like 'em long hurrhurr) is two props. & they'll cut them for free! :3
I don't think I'd recommend crashing a food place in a cosplay that requires your hands & lips to be painted, not to mention the fake teeth. The way I do fangs, it's kinda hard to drink. But we could anyway, oh well. XD Just speaking from experience. We'll find SOMEWHERE.
If you're into shock factor, I'm one of the best people to go to a con with because I always have giant wings or chainsaws or whatever. I don't do it for shock factor, but you know. It happens. XD I try to...be respectful to the normalers, though. The strangest costume I've ever crashed a place in is...short blonde hair, military uniform, red eyes & cat ears. Not THAT weird. But I must admit. Trolls...I would like to see. XD The only problem with going to cons with me is often you'll get drafted into being my handler. Like, say I have a twelve foot wingspan that collapses to six, you might have to guide me through a crowd or herd photographers around me or something.
Also, sorry I always type essays. D: It's something I've been trying to work on but I always have so much to say...

Yeah, the shock factor thing is just a side effect of my behavior. I don't intentionally try to shock people but it always happensss. My art teacher pointed it out to me haha. WINGS AND CHAINSAWS YEAHAHHH. I could handle being a handler, that just seems like a regular thing to do kind of.

I just need to decide whether I want my horns to have a gradient from yellow to orange or if I want the stripes, because they're drawn both ways...also, would you rather us work on these together in college or together but long distance over the summer so they'll be ready for college?

Hmmmm. I think that dicking around and doing a bunch of horns would be a good way to decide that. Either way works for me, but if I end up getting impatient I'll give them a go on my own. That probably won't happen though, I foresee this summer being a very distracting one.

If I might make a suggestion, for the horns I'm going to guess that a thin wire frame covered in Model Magic that's been given three days to dry & sanded smooth, finished off with acrylic paint, would be the best way to go for the horns. Then you just stick 'em onto a headband, or into a wig. My Schro ears are sewn into his wig...
I'm fine either way as well, I just didn't know if you preferred one or the other. If you don't mind then I might go ahead & start on Gamzee since he's such an easy cosplay, compared to what I normally do...

I kinda of figured Model Magic would be the way to go since it's so light, but I may experiment with felt ones, just to see how they turn out.
