Description Chapter 16

As the eight companions made their way out of the airport each of their tempers was sitting at bursting point. Cassie was stressed still because of the flight, Bam was getting increasingly pissed off every time Danni opened her mouth and Ville was annoyed because there was no sign of the driver for the tour bus anywhere. And he had no idea what he’d done with the spare keys he’d been given in case the driver was late. The weather wasn’t helping; to everyone apart from Cassie’s surprise the weather in London was just as dull and gloomy as it had been when they left Helsinki. Despite their checking the weather forecast the night before which assured a nice day, for February anyway, the rain was pouring down in glassy sheets, splashing up again as it hit against the hard concrete. They all stood together, huddled close, except for Danni who was trying to keep dry but still as far from Cassie or Bam as possible. As the rain hailed down on their heads they all watched shivering and dripping wet as Ville hurriedly tipped out the contents of his bag onto the wet ground and frantically searched through everything looking for the keys to open the door to the tour bus.

“Oh for God’s sake! Where the hell is the cretin who’s supposed to be driving us?” Danni screamed at no one in particular
“Yeah, because we look like we know that? That’s why Ville has spare keys.” Bam grunted at her
“Well if he could find the stupid keys then I wouldn’t have a problem, would I?” She yelled back. As Ville listened to Danni screeching he felt as if someone was banging on his head with a hammer. He was getting more and more stressed out every single time she opened her mouth. He put it down to the long flight and the still present tension between himself and Bam, but he really was starting to get angry at Danni and her complaining.
“Danni, it’s just a bit of rain. If you calm down maybe Ville can find the keys quicker.” Cassie offered, trying to calm Danni before Bam blew his fuse with her.
“Oh shut up you little bitch. First you sleep with my fiancé, and then you try to tell me what to do? I don’t think so!” Danni said, rounding on Cassie and bringing their faces closer together.
“Oh Danni would you shut the fuck up and for the love of god, let it go!” Came a voice no-one had expected to hear. Ville had finally been pushed to his limit as he snapped at Danni. She stood there blankly staring at him, her mouth opened partially as she’d been about to continue her ranting at Cassie. Danni looked down at him, obviously shocked that he had dared to speak to her like that, and highly offended by the snickering coming from behind her as Bam and Cassie fought with every strand of self restraint they had not to burst into hysterical laughing fits at the look of shocked horror plastered on her wet keys.
“Vil, man, the keys are there.” Bam said through gritted teeth, still trying not to laugh as Danni silently stooped down as grabbed the keys ramming them into the door of the large black and silver bus before storming onboard.

Ville dropped his head into his hands, took a deep breath and ran his fingers through his already dishevelled hair before following Danni onto the bus. The rest of the group remained outside in the cold rain, looking at one another blankly all waiting to see if one of the others thought it wise to get on the bus or to leave Ville and Danni to it. Then they heard Danni raising her voice.
“Don’t ever talk to me like that again! Especially after what you did with her!” she screamed at him, feeling a little twang of guilt as she yelled at Ville. She knew what she was doing with Marco was worse than his one night stand with Cassie.
“Look, Danni, you really need to stop throwing that in my face. If you don’t then there is no way we can get passed it” Ville said, his voice lowered in an attempt to calm her down. Outside Bam had moved to the open door of the bus so that he could hear what was going on. Soon Cassie and the rest of the guys followed, better to be soaking but with entertainment than just soaking they thought.
“I will, eventually. I only found out yesterday Ville and I still haven’t forgiven you yet. Don’t think because I came it means everything’s fine” She said, her voice calming now. It surprised her how well she was playing the devastated role, she had expected to have to give up pretending to be pissed pretty quickly but she was holding it up to a fairly high standard. She looked up at Ville, a faked tear trail rolling down her powdered cheeks. He came over to her and wrapped his long arms tightly around her shoulders. Now it was his turn to feel guilty. He couldn’t believe that it didn’t occur to him that maybe Danni was being extra bitch today because Cassie was there, and now given her actual justifiable reason for disliking Cassie she was making the most of it. He kissed the top of her head as she stood still in his arms, every now and again forcing out another few tears.
“I’m sorry sweetheart. You have to believe that. I’ll make it up to you, I promise.” He said stroking her long hair as his deep voice flowed from his lips.

“What an idiot” Cassie muttered to herself. Apparently nobody heard her as the all stayed silent. Linde was the first to take the initiative and made his way onto the bus while they were quiet. He walked on to find Danni still wrapped in Ville’s arms but no sign of tears was left on her cheeks. Soon he was followed onto the bus by his friends as Ville and Danni broke apart. She headed to the back of the bus were there were several comfortable seats. By now it was only about quarter to eight in the morning but the driver was almost an hour late. Gradually everyone made their way to the seating area after dragging the now drenched luggage onto the bus. The all sat together in silence, none wanting to be the first to say anything. Cassie and the rest of her friends shot looks at each other but all avoided Danni’s eye. Ville looked worn out, and confused. He had a look on his face as if he were trying to work out the most complicated mathematical equation know to man. I reality he was thinking of a way he could ‘make it up’ to Danni. So far all he had was to ask her what she wanted him to do. He figured that whatever she asked, within reason, he would have to do. It seemed like it was the only way he could get her to actually forgive him. Ville’s thoughts were interrupted by a man speaking in a heavy London accent. Apparently the bus driver had finally arrived. He was apologising for his lateness and asking where they wanted to go. He then heard Cassie’s voice telling him to take them to their hotel so they could drop off the luggage and then to take them to the nearest restaurant for breakfast.

Soon they were on the way. The hotel was only about 10 minutes from the hotel; they made it there just after 8 am. The rain was still coming down full force so each grabbing their own case, Ville grabbing his and Danni’s, they ran towards the hotel door and over to the check in desk. Cassie took in the hotel lobby as she waited beside her friends while Bam checked them in. She was in a brightly lit, large lobby. The floor was a vague beige marble, swirled with white; the bright artificial light was coming from several fake chandeliers that from elaborate cornices in the roof. The walls were covered in a deep red, velvety looking fabric wall paper. All around the lobby were antique looking sofas, like the kind you would expect to see in a French palace. The cushions were of a soft, off white brocade style fabric and several of the sofas were currently housing men and women in suits or fashionable outfits. Cassie felt out of place as she scanned the people. There she and her friends stood, dripping wet wearing (in Cassie’s case) old skinny jeans, a loose fitting hoodie and beaten up Converse. She was silently willing Bam to hurry up so she could change and get away from the disapproving looks of all the well-off people that surrounded her.

“Apparently the record company decided to shell out this time huh?” She said to Ville, nudging his arm. She was used to staying in low budget, basic hotels when she had been on tour with the guys before. This was much more luxurious than any she had previously visited.
“So it would seem. I was expecting another B&B.” He said laughing. “Apparently this tour is a bigger deal than we were lead to believe.” He finished, as Danni stood as close to him as she possibly could without actually climbing up onto his shoulders. She was looking daggers at Cassie, who was taking no notice of her. Soon Bam returned to the group, handing out room keys. It turned out that while the record company were willing to shell out for this hotel, separate rooms was another thing altogether. There had been 3 rooms booked; one for Ville and Danni, one for the rest of the band and a final one for Cassie and Bam.
“Are you serious? I have to share a room with him? We don’t call him Bam-Bam for nothing you know!” Cassie said as she realised that sharing a room with Bam was pretty much a death sentence to any sleep or peace and quiet she had hoped for.
“Oh now you’ve offended me Cass” Bam said pouting at her, before grabbing her and throwing her over his shoulder. “I guess you’ll just have to deal” He finished. Walking over to the elevator, Cassie still slung over his shoulders. Apparently someone was going to bring their bags so he left them where they lay.
“Bam! Put me down you ass!” Cassie screamed as she attempted to punch every part of him she could reach. He just whistled, pretending she wasn’t there “Bam, come on people are staring” Cassie said faux pleading. But it was true, they were drawing several disapproving stares and people who walked by were shaking their heads and tutting. When the Elevator arrived Bam walked in, still not releasing Cassie. In fact he kept her that way till they reached their room. He pushed the door open and threw her down on the bed. He flopped down next her and turned on his side to face her.

All of a sudden a funny feeling came over Bam as he looked at Cassie, her usually curly hair hanging damp and straggled across her face, and the smudged remains of the makeup she’d been wearing before they boarded the plane in Helsinki. She looked different somehow. He couldn’t put his finger on why but she did. As if from nowhere an urge took over every fibre of his being. He placed a hand on the back of her head, playing with the tangled strands of her hair. The he did something he swore he’d never do. He betrayed his best friend by leaning his head in closer to Cassie’s and gently pressing his lips against hers.
