I was watching 'A Little Princess' when I thought of this idea. If you know the film version of the Little Princess book, there is a scene where the main little girl character bids her father, who is a soldier, good-bye. For some reason, I thought of FMA in mind, where Edward Elric has to leave because of State Alchemist missions.

I also kind of imagined what would it be like when there are times that Edward has to leave his family, especially his little girl. So, ta-dah! This drawing was born!

She's telling Edward that he'll be alright and whatever happens, she will always wait for her father's return even if his mission is considered dangerous. Also, this might interpret his little girl making him feel better when he gets into a sad situation. (^0^)

I believe that Edward will become a great father, doting his little girl! (^__^)

Important:
When designing what Edward Elric's little daughter looks like, I wasn't thinking of his canon daughter from the anime/manga. I KNOW his actual daughter has blonde hair because of him or Winry. When I was drawing this, I had no intention from the beginning of making the daughter his actual blonde haired daughter from the show.

The reason of why I did not is because I know some fans of FMA aren't fond of the pairing Ed/Winry. I know it will upset some fans of the pairing but you never know, what if Edward conjures up a brown-haired little girl? I mean, his mother had brown hair... genes are very unpredictable things.

Another thing: I made her hair brown because I was inspired by the little girl's look from A Little Princess. The main girl had brown hair so I just kind of made it that way. Ed's daughter's eyes in this one is a gold, like Ed's.

Also, there are no intended pairing implications. It is open-ended for the viewer and I will not confirm who Edward's wife or the little girl's mother is. Personally, I wouldn't want it to be Winry but it is all your choice and your imagination.

Edward's little girl is named Liesel, after the actress who played Sara Crewe, the main girl from A Little Princess. I just thought she had a pretty name. (^__^)

I recommend A Little Princess as a nice book to read and the movie is just great as well! Watch it when you can~
