It's Hatori Sohma from fruits basket. When I first watched the show, I got so excited when I found out he was gonna be the dragon and then I found out that he was a seahorse which is not a dragon.Related content

Well both Leafy and Weedy Sea Dragons are closely related to seahorses (they're basically seahorses with extra leaf-like fins for camouflage) So maybe they intended to make him turn into a Seadragon but didn't want to add the extra details and decided to have him be a seahorse. When you think of it that way I guess it's not that far-fetched.

They did that because in their culture some seahorses become dragons. Seahorses are considered baby dragons. At least for the show anyway... But can you imagine how weird it would be to walk down the street, and when a girl hugged hatori he transformed into this enormous dragon in he middle of the street. There is no way you could possibily hide that. People would probably lose it and think the world was ending. LOL, then fruits basket would become some sort of Godzilla movie. They need to make an OVA for that. XD

Why a seahorse. Seahorses are not dragons. They should've gone with a Komodo dragon, or at least a SeaDRAGON.

seahorse (in Japanese tatsuno-otoshigo, literally "baby dragon") I have also heard that there is a tale in Japanese culture that says every 1,000 seahorse has the ability to gain full dragon-ship. So, another reason why he is the seahorse. It's also proof, if you know or read the manga, that the curse is weakening.... suggesting that others before him did in fact change into the dragon.

It's funny because of the reason he's a seahorse...it has something to do with the Kanji for seahorse also being able to mean dragon...at least I think that's what it was.
