the slurker are sub order of [vistrune] that, despite them, though most vistrune do have tongue like proboscises, excel with said adaptation.
the slurker are like other nectarivore, lapping up sap and nectar and juices for sustenance, however due to their biology, they have no mouths to slurp juice into their belly's, instead, they must retract their tongues into their bodies, twist and ring out their tongues like squishing out a sponge.

the slurker do not have a picky pallet with nectar, and will eat from most plants and root systems.
they will even go as far as to even take nectar from the backs [snerlans], taking away one of their defenses, but not falling to it, as the narcoleptic properties of the nectar dose note have an effect on their immune system.

and lastly most slurker have the ability to shed their backs, and i dont just skin, i mean the whole thing.
the back of the average slurker is made up of a cartilaginous membrane, like that of most ikanik bones.
this back is most often used as a way to escape predation, however, some slurker will use their back shed from more, such as shelter, nesting, and even as weaponry in certain species.
however, this back shed leaves the slurker vulnerable to the elements, and since it takes about 1 ikanic week to grow back, this could leave said slurker to be a liability in certain cases.
