Description Reconstruction of the Mongolian Psittacosaurus (Psittacosaurus mongoliensis) sitting next to a fern. This is a example of an unusual angle for my work, as well as an attempt to draw a realistic fern.

This reconstruction is based on just one of the individuals with soft tissues - the famous specimen SMF R 4970 (an indeterminate species of Psittacosaurus) from Liaoning Province in China. This dinosaur became famous not only for the extensive prints of scaly skin and bristle-like structures on the tail, but also for the preserved pigment cells that allowed to recreate the color (dark brown dorsal side and yellowish ventral side). My Psittacosaurus has generally identical integuments, although in life it could differ in certain details (for example, it is not known whether all species of Psittacosaurus had bristles). Also, to show the differences, I made well-defined stripes in the color.

Black ballpoint pen, 2024.
