Description Skull Island again. This time, not the most famous representative of its fauna too. This is the bipedal thyreophoran Pugiodorsus squameus, a relatively small gregarious herbivore.

The original Pugiodorsus was depicted clearly with inspiration by outdated paleoart: it looks like a bipedal archosaur from the books of the distant 60-70s. The description of the lifestyle is more natural. Pugiodorsus live in small groups, in which one or two individuals act as sentinels while the rest feed. Caution helps them to escape from predators. The spikes on the shoulders, according to the creators, serve as protection and prevent the enemy from biting.

My version is based on a modern reconstruction of Scutellosaurus lawleri, which could be its relative. In particular, most of the armor is based on this dinosaur. In the process, I wanted to show the shine of the scales, I hope it turned out well.

My version of the biology of Pugiodorsus squameus (original with minor changes and additions):

Pugiodorsus, a relative of the North American Scutellosaurus from the distant Early Jurassic , is one of the smaller herbivores. It lives in small groups and constantly moves in search of vegetation. There are always one or two individuals in the group who act as sentinels for feeding relatives. Like a long-extinct relative, this dinosaur has bands of small bony plates along its sides and a tail decorated with sharp shields.

The main distinguishing feature of Pugiodorsus is the large shoulder spines, which are much larger in males than in females. In addition, their bend varies from individual to individual. Thorns are not used for protection, but to clarify the relationship between relatives through demonstrations. The protection is primarily caution and fast running. However, a cornered Pugiodorsus can deliver painful blows with its tail.
