“Gwaaa! So spacious!” Hinata beamed in excitement, as Karasuno finally set foot into Nekomas gym; you and Ukai leading the hectic flock of course.
It wouldn’t be Karasuno if there weren’t any quarrels between Kageyama and Hinata, or heated discussions about moronic and irrelevant things between Tanaka and Nishinoya.

“Guys, behave! We don’t want to look like a bunch of idiots.” You spring your head back towards the noise and scowl slightly, the males shiver alarmingly in response.

You knew exactly how to get the boys in line; after all, you’re the manager of the team. Ukai often admired your strict ways and ability to simply click your fingers and everything would fall into place as you wanted it to, the dominance you expressed when necessary was something you were quite confident and prideful over. Surely, there couldn’t be a flaw in that, right? It’s a skill.
Sure, you’ve been to Nekomas gym before, and so have the second and third years, so you to walk with your head held high and a confident approach was natural, especially since you were a third year yourself. There was also good reasoning for you to not fall behind the team, you acted as some sort of shelter for the first years- or first year Hinata, as he got exceptionally intimidated and stressed very easily. Your mildly intimidating and confident presence somehow helped to cancel out the boys’ anxious thoughts and comfort him slightly.

“Sometimes, I think your approach is a bit too cocky, [f/n].” Ukai chuckled.

“Cocky? I don’t want the opposing team to think of us as a heard of quiet mice, Ukai.” You snap jokingly in response, which only causes him to huff slightly.

Soon enough, Nekomas coach and Ukai blabber on about some irrelevant subjects, to you at least, and as always, the two teams greet each other before the game. You never really spoke to anybody though; you didn’t exactly feel the need to, befriending opponents? Hmph! You squeak in a slightly aggravated tone. All you really knew about them were their names, at least most of them. You had a vague idea about their personalities, but it was plainly based off what you observed at the few games you’ve attended. You’ve spoken to some of them before of course, but your purpose wasn’t to befriend anybody when you did so, you spoke, simply because you had to. You linger around, tapping your foot, glancing at your watch from time to time. All you could do is stand there with your arms securely crossed, and an obviously fatigued expression huffing from time to time. Can’t they not chitter chatter another time? We’re here for a damn game!

“Hey, manager.” A surprisingly familiar voice calls out.

You angle your head upwards, to meet a raven-haired guy towering over you, his hands casually slotted inside his joggers pockets, with a smug grin plastered on his face. You flinch immediately, as he caught you off guard; you didn’t expect him to speak to you. He was uncomfortably close and invading your space a little…

“What do you want?” You catch your balance, and snatch back at him. You weren’t here to make new friends, goodness sake.

“Cranky, are we? Well, shrimpy over there-“

“His name is Hinata.” You interrupted.

“…Yeah, him. He let it slip that you’re absolutely convinced you’re going to win today’s game. You totally sure about that, [l/n]?” Kuroo raised his brow, leaning in slightly, as his grin spread further over his face.

“O-Of course I am! Why wouldn’t I be?” you questioned angrily, what is he trying to get at?

“Oh Is that the case? Then how about we make a little deal?” He giggled teasingly which made you slightly flustered. What fucking bet? Is he playing around with me?!

“W-What deal? Are you trying to provoke me?!” you accused, raising your voice slightly. This guy is so toying with me!

“ Hmm?~ Of course not. Here’s the thing; if you lose today, you’re going on a date with me.”

“…Excuse me?” you jerked in surprise, colour rushed to your cheeks immediately.

“What sort of request even is that?! No way!” You lock your arms across your chest and avert your gaze at the floor. What the hell does he want from me? We’ve spoken merely three or four times!

“Oooh?~ Frightened of losing are we? I genuinely thought you were as confident as you looked, [l/n]~” Kuroo barked jokingly.

You immediately spring your head up in response, eyeing Kuroo, then your team, then Kuroo again.

“Oi! Karasuno!” You swivel round, your arms remained crossed. You shake off the furious blushes and take a deep breath.

“ You’re going to win today, aren’t you?” Your tone was a notch higher, and sounded mildly dangerous.

“Of course we are!”
“Hell yeah!”
“Yes, ma’am!”

You plaster a smirk on your face, and pivot round to face Kuroo.

“You’re on, scruff-head.” You exclaimed, as your delicate scowl peered inside of his eyes. Kuroo chuckled in slight surprise, as he grins mischievously and bends down to your level.

“Scruff-head? I think I’m even more determined to win now, [l/n].” He whispers, as his smooth tone drops dangerously low, sending startling shivers down your spine.
